Highlight Items

Released 2. 0 Version of Highlight Mod. Complete Rebuild so technically a completely new Mod.

Most highlight mods light everything up at full strength and turn the screen into a Christmas tree. This one is built the other way round — the aim is a clutter-free, subtle highlight that makes loot findable without ever taking over the picture.

  What it does NOT do

  • []No loot key, no auto-pickup, no inventory changes. (Want one-key looting? That is a separate mod — Quickloot.)[/]

    []No key binds at all by default. A bind is shared across every installed mod, so this one claims none. [/]

    []No HUD, no icons, no markers, no compass pins. [/]

    []No changes to NPC or door outlines beyond the shared fade curve. [/]

      Installation

        Uninstalling

        Delete the mod folder. That is genuinely all — the mod only changes live display settings, restores them when it shuts down, and writes nothing to your saves or to any game config file.

        Configuration

        Everything is in Scripts\config.lua, a plain commented Lua file. Every value explains what it does and what happens if you change it, so you do not need to read any code. The ones people usually want:

        • []EnterRadius — how far away items start being highlighted (default 1000 = about 10 m)[/]

          []IntensityNearAlpha / IntensityFarAlpha — how strong the outline is up close and at range. This is the main brightness knob.[/]

          []IntensityNearThickness / IntensityFarThickness — same idea for line width[/]

          []OcclusionEnabled — optional line-of-sight check, OFF by default. Turn on if you raise the brightness[/]

          []Enabled — master switch[/]

          []ToggleKey — key that turns highlighting on/off in game. Default "F6"; use "" for none[/]

          Two notes if you go tuning:

          Do not push the far thickness below about 0. 6. Outline width is a world-space value, so at range it covers fewer and fewer pixels — under roughly one pixel the effect cannot draw a clean line and the outline breaks into fragments along the silhouette. If you want items fainter at a distance, lower the far alpha instead. That is exactly why the mod fades with brightness rather than thinness.

          Raising the alpha brings back through-wall bleed. The game draws these outlines over geometry by design; occlusion is what keeps that out of sight. Push the brightness high enough and you will start noticing outlines through rock again.
