I. INSTALLATION

1a. STEAM: Go to your Steam Library, find "Gothic 1 Remake", right-click,

Manage -> Browse Local Files. This is your <game_root> folder>.

1b. GAMEPASS: N/A

2.  Extract content of the zip-archive inside the folder:

<game_root>\G1R\Content\Paks\

4.  Confirm that all "SML.*" files from the archive is inside that folder

Example: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Gothic 1 Remake\G1R\Content\Paks\

Installation is complete.

II. DEV RESOURCES

Simple "SDK" for SML developers can use get access  to some utility and tools SML provides. Can be expanded by request

III. MOD AUTODISCOVERY

The readme explains how to create mod that is compatible with SML's auto discovery using AlpakitSO. You can use launcher engine, source engine build is not required.

IV. HOW TO MAKE BLUEPRINT MODS

1. Install UE 5. 4. 0-5. 4. 3 and build toolchain as per UE readme. If you need full compatibility - you need to build UE 5. 4. 3 AngelScript fork

2. Clone Gothic 1 Remake Template project (see readme on the project page)

3. Use AlpakitSO to package mod as a native Gothic mod (currently unused by the game)

4. See Readme on the project page about FMOD plugin

5. Build project

6. Should be good to go

V. WHY USE SML OVER "X"??

Simplicity. You actually dont need anything from the above, all you need is UE editor, an actor and knowledge how to package a mod.  That's it. Then you can quickly spawn and iterate on it with SML.

VI. GOTHIC NATIVE/COMPATIBLE MODS

Gothic 1 Remake comes with its own mod system. I will explain how to properly structure and package native G1R mod once I'm done with SDK project
