Desktop tool for Gothic 1 Remake that applies selected INI optimizations with a

preview, backups, merge support and restore/reset options.

Features and Purpose

- Streaming Stutter Fix: VRAM-based texture pool increase. For less texture

pop-in, streaming pressure and frametime drops.

- Balanced Overdose Performance: Overdose-only performance caps. For higher

FPS with small visual trade-offs; tested scenes improved by about 20-30 FPS.

- Shader / Pipeline Cache Tweaks: D3D12 and runtime PSO cache settings. For

testing repeated shader or pipeline hitches.

- Garbage Collection Timing: Unreal cleanup timing tweaks. For testing short

cleanup spikes.

- Volumetric Fog Modes: default, low or off. For trading fog quality for FPS.

- Skip Intro Videos: Game.ini startup movie tweak. For reaching the menu

faster without replacing game files.

- Safe INI Workflow: detection, preview, backup, merge, restore and reset.

For avoiding accidental loss of custom INI settings.

- Manual Copy Support: copies generated INI settings. For users who prefer

manual config editing.

Streaming Presets

4 GB VRAM  -> 1536 MB

6 GB VRAM  -> 3072 MB

8 GB VRAM  -> 4096 MB

10 GB VRAM  -> 5120 MB

12 GB VRAM  -> 6144 MB

16 GB VRAM  -> 8192 MB

20 GB VRAM  -> 10240 MB

24+ GB VRAM -> 12288 MBRule of thumb: use one preset higher if stutter remains and VRAM has headroom;

use one preset lower if crashes, long hitches or VRAM pressure appear.

Installation

1. Close Gothic 1 Remake.

2. Start G1R Optimizer.

3. Use the detected config folder, or browse to:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\G1R\Saved\Config\Windows\

<SteamLibrary>/steamapps/compatdata/1297900/pfx/.../G1R/Saved/Config/Windows/4. Select a VRAM preset or custom pool size

5. Enable optional performance or game tweaks if wanted.

6. Review the preview. If existing INI files contain custom settings, choose

Merge to keep them or Set App Settings Only to replace them.

7. Press Optimize, then launch and test.

Notes

- GameUserSettings.ini is not modified.

- Balanced Performance targets the Alkimia Overdose profile only.

- Manual INI installation from Presets still works, but the app is safer.
