Ethic Intolerance - Civics Did you ever think that a galaxy of slavers, purging zealots and world-devouring raiders should all be perfectly welcome at the negotiating table? Nah, me neither. This is the civics companion to Ethic Intolerance. Where the main mod handles ideology (opposing ethics), this one handles what empires actually do — the loud, the predatory, the openly provocative. What it does Two kinds of friction, layered on top of vanilla: Predatory civics — empires known for preying on others (Barbaric Despoilers, Driven Assimilators, Scorched Earth) are now distrusted for their behaviour, regardless of ideology. Even a fellow militarist keeps a wary eye on a known raider — though the warlike mind it less than pacifists do. Loud ideological civics — civics that don't just hold an ideology but broadcast or impose it (Slaver Guilds, Beacon of Liberty, Death Cult, Holy Crusaders, Unethical Experiments...) draw extra ire from the opposite ethic pole, scaled by how fanatical the offended empire is. Design Values are deliberately small (−75 to −150). This is texture on top of the ideology layer, not a second sledgehammer. Predatory distrust is ethic-independent, so it catches what ethics can't — including predatory Hive Minds and Machine Intelligences. Genocidal civics that vanilla already makes universal pariahs (Fanatic Purifiers, Devouring Swarm) are left untouched. No double-dipping. Lightweight & compatible Adds only new opinion modifiers — overwrites nothing. No events, no scripts. Pure additive data. Load order doesn't matter. Works standalone — you do NOT need the main mod. But it's built to stack with Ethic Intolerance for the full picture. Safe to add to (and remove from) an ongoing save. How to tell it's working Hover the opinion value of a predatory or loud-civic empire in the diplomacy window.
