📋 About This Mod
ALERT: This mod is officially deprecated. I have made a much better version of this mod that you can access here. This mod will be kept up for those mod artists who still rely on it as they migrate to the newer mod and for those mod authors who cannot or will not migrate but still rely on this mod.
PLEASE NOTE! THIS MOD DOES NOT ADD ANY SPRITES. THIS MOD IS A UTILITY TO BE USED BY MOD CREATORS TO ALLOW THEM TO ADD SPRITES. IF YOU ARE NOT MAKING YOUR OWN MOD OR USING THIS AS PART OF SOMEONE ELSE'S MOD, THIS MOD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING AND WILL GIVE YOU AN ERROR.
This mod allows you to expand the farmer sprite sheet beyond the original 125 frame limit. All it requires is adding this mod and then adjusting the config.json file to set the x and y offset to align the hair and clothing with the added sprite. Each sprite needs x AND y coordinates to be added. If not added, events will throw an index out of range error.
-Open your mod folder
-Open manifest.json
-Add to dependencies :
"UniqueID": "mooseybrutale.spriteextender",
"IsRequired": "false"
-Launch SMAPI
-If you have GMCM installed, go to settings and add the number of sprites you are adding to the sprite sheet
-If you are only using one gender, you only need to set one gender. Leaving it at 0 will be fine.
-If you do not have GMCM, these changes can be made in your mod folder in the now added SSXConfig.json file but will require a game restart to take effect.
-Load or start new save
The mod will automatically add dummy values for the amount of sprites you specified (first time only).
These values all default to (Format: )
Your sprite frames should now be usable!
--Changing Sprite Offset--
If your farmer's hair, clothing and accessories do not line up when using your sprite, you need to change the offset settings.
You can do this by going into the SSXConfig.json file and editing the pair for the sprite or by editing it in the SMAPI console using the setFrameOffset command.
--Console Commands--
setFrameOffset - allows you to modify x and y offset for the indicated sprite
Changes made will automatically be saved to your SSXConfig.json file and loaded anytime someone loads your mod.
Format: setFrameOffset <frame index> <x-offset> <y-offset>
<frame index> - The frame number of the sprite you want to edit. MUST BE GREATER THAN 125!
<x-offset> The number of pixels to horizontally offset the farmer's hair and clothes (positive right, negative left)
<y-offset> The number of pixels to vertically offset the farmer's hair and clothes (positive down, negative up)
getFrameOffset - al
A deprecated modding utility that lets mod creators add custom sprites to farmer sprite sheets. With 1,421 endorsements and 144,668 downloads, it was popular but is now replaced by Free Yoga for Farmers. For mod authors who need sprite extension, but new users should use the successor.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Proven track record with 1,421 endorsements and 144k downloads
- Fills a specific need for mod creators wanting custom farmer sprites
- Clear deprecation notice points users to the successor mod
⚠️ Cons
- Deprecated — no longer maintained, so compatibility with current game versions is uncertain
- Utility is aimed at mod creators, not regular players, so it's useless for most
For mod creators who need to extend farmer sprite sheets and are okay with using an older tool. Skip if you're a regular player or if you want a supported solution — go with Free Yoga for Farmers instead.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this mod is deprecated, check if Free Yoga for Farmers offers the same functionality before installing.
- If you're a mod creator, test this utility in a separate modding environment to avoid conflicts.
- Look for community guides on using sprite sheet extenders, as the description lacks details.
