📋 About This Mod

Outlines items, containers, corpses, pouches and ore veins at a range you choose, while intelligently unhighlighting empty ones.

Improved Object Highlighter

See every piece of loot at a glance — and nothing you don't care about.

Improved Object Highlighter outlines the loot worth grabbing: items, chests, bodies, pouches and ore veins; at a range you choose, and quietly hides whatever isn't worth your time. Everything is configurable, live, from an in-game menu.

What it highlights

  • []Loose items & plants, chests & containers, lootable corpses, stealable pouches, and ore veins.[/]

[]Optionally highlight enemies you've knocked out, not only dead bodies.[/]

[]A range you choose — spot loot far beyond the game's short focus distance.[/]

[]Every category can be turned on or off independently.[/]

    Smart loot filtering

    • []Empty chests, bodies and mined-out ore veins are hidden automatically, so a highlight always means there's something to take.[/]

[]A corpse stays lit while it holds anything lootable, including hunting trophies you can't harvest yet (you lack the skill), so you know to come back for them.[/]

[]A creature's innate "weapons" (jaws, claws, fists) and worn armour are ignored, so a genuinely-empty body doesn't light up.[/]

[]Furniture de-clutter to optionally hide the highlight on chairs, benches, beds, ladders and other things you can't loot, so a busy room isn't a wall of outlines.[/]

      Forbidden / stealing

      • []Items, containers and pouches owned by someone else get their own, fully configurable colour, so you know that taking them is stealing before you grab them.[/]

[]When you focus a forbidden object, the game's focus glow takes on your forbidden colour too.[/]

        Appearance & feel

        • []Configurable outline colour (RGB) for both normal and forbidden highlights.[/]

[]Configurable opacity and thickness, with a smooth near-to-far distance fade.[/]

[]Stays out of your way; when you open a chest, pick a lock or start a conversation, the highlights step aside just like the game's own, and come right back when you're done.[/]

          Make it yours

          • []Toggle highlighting on/off in-game with a hotkey (default F1).[/]

[]Choose whether highlighting starts on or off when you launch.[/]

[]With the Shared Mod Menu you can adjust every setting live, in-game (default F2), no restart.[/]

[]Prefer a text editor? Every option is a clearly-commented line in settings.ini, and GAME_DEFAULTS.txt explains each one — and how to restore the game's vanilla look.[/]

            Installation

            • []Install the UE4SS Experimental build first; this is a UE4SS DLL mod and needs it.[/]

              []Then install Improved Object Highlighter.[/]

[]Shared Mod Menu is optional but highly recommended, as it adds the in-game settings menu (default F2).[/]

[]Enable "Object outlines" in the game's Accessibility settings; the mod builds on this feature and won't work without it.[/]

[]Troubleshooting: Press F10 in-game to log the nearby objects (and why each is or isn't highlighted) to the UE4SS log,  handy if you ever need to report something.[/]

              Credits

              • []Shared Mod Menu is vendored with this mod — thank you to Tautellini for creating it.[/]

[]All other content is my own work and may not be re-uploaded or modified without permission.[/]
