📋 About This Mod
A lightweight economy-only tweak mod for Gothic 1 Remake.
Description
G1R Economy Tweaks is for players who want ore to matter more in Gothic 1 Remake without turning the mod into a full difficulty overhaul. The goal is simple: make the economy tighter.
Installation instructions
1.) Install UE4SS experimental found here.
2.) Open your game's UE4SS Mods folder.
3.) Place the G1R_EconomyTweaks folder inside the Mods folder.
4.) Confirm that enabled.txt is inside the G1R_EconomyTweaks folder.
5.) Launch the game and load a save.
The mod applies automatically after you load into the world.
Main features
By default, this mod doubles merchant buy prices, keeps the game's normal sell-price setting, gives selected worthless or near-worthless junk items a small base value, and doubles ore costs for trainer options that already cost ore. It is fully configurable through config.lua.
Default Settings
Merchant buy prices: 2. 0x
Merchant sell prices: unchanged / game default
Selected junk item minimum base value: 3
Trainer ore costs: 2. 0x for training that already costs ore
Use Notepad or other similar text editors to change the settings.
The mod waits until a save is loaded before applying its changes. Trainer and junk edits are applied in small batches instead of one large pass, which is intended to reduce main-menu and load-time hitching.
Requirements
Gothic 1 Remake
UE4SS installed for Gothic 1 Remake
Configuration
Open Scripts/config.lua with a text editor. Most users only need these settings:
Resources. PlayerBuyModifier —multiplier for how much items cost to buy from merchants. Default: 2. 0
Resources. PlayerSellModifier —multiplier for how much the player gets for selling an item. Default: "keep"
JunkValueFloor. MinimumValue — minimum base value for selected junk items. Default: 3
TrainerCosts. OreCostMultiplier — trainer ore cost multiplier. Default: 2. 0
Use keep to leave a resource setting unchanged.
Be aware that changing the PlayerSellModifier is based on the game's default sell value of 0. 4—if you set the SellModifier to something above 0. 4, you will actually gain more ore due to the way the game's economy works. I'd stick with something like 0. 3 or 0. 2 if you want lower sell prices.
Compatibility Notes
This mod edits economy-related runtime values. Avoid using another mod that changes the same merchant buy/sell settings unless you are comfortable with one mod overwriting the other.
Trainer options that are truly free or 0 ore remain free. This is intentional. Forcing a minimum ore cost can make the UI show a cost without reliably deducting ore, so this mod only multiplies costs that already exist.
Uninstallation
Remove the G1R_EconomyTweaks folder from your UE4SS Mods folder. The mod makes runtime changes and should not permanently alter your save.
