📋 About This Mod

- Introduction -

Get shot in the leg and start limping. Take a hit to the head and you might get a concussion. Catch a torso wound and bleed out the slow way. But chrome up your legs, and that limp can't happen anymore - at least not the way that your pesky meat legs could...

Maybe Shattered Chrome will glitch on you, but your meat stays whole - the little you have left.

Injuries adds a region-based, graduated injury system that scales with how much cyberware you have installed per body region. The more chrome in a region, the less likely (and less severe) the meat injuries become. Fully chrome a region and there is no meat left to hurt, so Injuries stop occuring - install Shattered Chrome and that same hit goes into your cyberware instead. Pure-meat you is fragile in one way; fully-chromed you is fragile in another.

This system is designed to add to the gameplay but not be overbearing. You can tune it up and down, as per usual with most of my mods and most things will self-heal over time. If you wish you can turn off certain effects completely and just keep the ones you think make sense.

TL;DR: Real bodies feel real damage. Chrome doesn't. (。• ᵕ •。)

Region-based injuries

Hits are classified by body region using DigitalVixen Core's hit-location layer. Six tracked regions: head, torso, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg. Severity is tracked per region as a tier 0-3 (none / light / medium / severe). Tiers persist across save loads.

What actually injures you

Damage accumulates over a rolling window of real seconds. Take 50% of your max HP inside 10 seconds and you roll for an injury; it lands on whichever region took the hit that tipped you over. Cross the line and the meter resets, so one roll is earned per beating rather than one per bullet.

Armour and mitigation feed straight into this, and they scale properly - a vest means it takes another round or two to fill the meter, not that you become immune to injury.

One hit taking 80% of your max HP is its own category. It skips the meter and the dice entirely, wipes the window so the next stray round can't pile on, and injures you two tiers deep on the spot. Explosions get there.

Four meat injury types map to regions:

Limp - leg hits. Reduces movement speed. With Flesh and Chrome installed, also drains FAC stamina while moving.

Broken Arm - arm hits. Increases weapon sway, slows reload.

Concussion - head hits. Gives a concussion which plays a vision-based effect.

Bleeding - torso hits. Slow HP drain over time until healed.
