📦 Install Methods
1. Vortex (easiest)
- Install Vortex from the Nexus Mods website and let it install the Cyberpunk 2077 game extension when you first add the game.
- Add Cyberpunk 2077 in Vortex and point it at your install folder (Steam: steamapps/common/Cyberpunk 2077; GOG: GOG Galaxy/Games/Cyberpunk 2077).
- On each mod's Nexus Mods page, click the Mod Manager Download button rather than the manual archive download.
- In Vortex, open the Mods tab, click Install on the downloaded mod, then Enable it.
- Deploy when Vortex prompts you — it automatically routes .archive files to archive/pc/mod, redscript (.reds) to r6/scripts, and CET mods to bin/x64/plugins/cyber_engine_tweaks/mods.
- Install required framework mods through Vortex the same way first — many mods list Cyber Engine Tweaks, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Codeware, or redscript as dependencies.
- For mods that support REDmod, tick Enable REDmod in the launcher's game settings before launching so Vortex-deployed mods actually load.
2. Manual install
- Download the mod using the manual Archive Download button on its Nexus Mods page.
- Extract the downloaded zip or rar with 7-Zip or WinRAR so you can see the folder structure.
- Find your game folder (Steam: steamapps/common/Cyberpunk 2077; GOG: GOG Galaxy/Games/Cyberpunk 2077).
- Copy any .archive files into archive/pc/mod/ — create this folder if it does not already exist.
- Copy script mods to their proper locations: redscript (.reds) files into r6/scripts/, and CET mods into bin/x64/plugins/cyber_engine_tweaks/mods/<mod name>/.
- Copy TweakXL tweak files into r6/tweaks/, and install any required frameworks (CET, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Codeware, redscript) the same way before the mod that depends on them.
- For REDmod-compatible mods, place their archive and r6 folders under the game's mods/ folder and tick Enable REDmod in the launcher so it deploys them.
3. REDmod (official CDPR tool)
- Confirm REDmod is installed with the game — it is a separate component you enable in the launcher (Steam or GOG) or library alongside the base game.
- Download mods that are explicitly REDmod-compatible; Nexus Mods tags and the mod description will say so.
- Extract the mod and copy its archive and r6 folders into the game's mods/<mod name>/ folder.
- Open the launcher's game settings, tick Enable REDmod, and launch the game so REDmod deploys the installed mods.
- After adding or removing REDmod mods, repeat the deploy step (toggle the launcher option or let the game re-deploy on next launch).
- Note that REDmod only handles mods built for it — CET, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, and redscript mods still need to be installed separately into their normal folders.
- Verify the mods appear in-game; if they do not, check that REDmod is still enabled and that the mod's folder structure matches the game's mods/ layout.
📦 Mod Managers
Most Cyberpunk 2077 mods install through Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 — they handle file placement and load order automatically. Manual install means dropping files into your game's mod/data folder.
