📋 About This Mod

This mod removes the few seconds of forced walk speed when the screen fades in after a loading or fast travel, that are especially prevalent in alternative movement scheme on controller.

ONLY TESTED IN 4. 0. 4.

May work for other next-gen versions. Probably doesn't work for old-gen. You should be able to fix it yourself with the instructions below, or I'll do it if there's enough interest.

Instructions:

Unzip into the game directory and  merge the "mods" directory, or use TW3 Mod Manager.

Compatibility:

It's a VERY simple script edit, that should be compatible with anything, especially when running TW3 Script Merger, which you should always do.

For those who come after, this is what it does:

It removes the !theGame. IsFading() condition on line 902 of locomotionDirectController.ws. That condition skips the generic movement code when the screen is fading in (and presumably out, but that shouldn't matter), and goes to the next block, which forces walking.

Please report any proven issues with the mod, as I haven't played with it much yet.

  • Simple, focused mod—does one thing and does it well

⚠️ Cons

  • May need to be updated if the game patches change the loading behavior

🎯 Is This For You?
For players who fast-travel or load saves frequently and hate the forced slow walk right after. If you're tired of tapping the sprint key to get back to normal speed, this is for you. Skip if you don't mind the brief slowdown or if you're looking for more comprehensive movement tweaks.
