Comic GI - A REST powered Reshade Preset

Generally people tend to make Reshade presets that are very overbearing. This preset is subtle enough to not be too much on the eyes in my opinion, so I figured I would bring it here. You can easily disable the comic effect and end up with something that adds a bit of global illumination and some more advanced bloom. The real magic is in the REST profile. This only has been tested on DX11. I will upload a Vulkan compatible version (if possible) at some point.

Comic GI uses a REST profile to inject effects directly into specific layers of the rendering pipeline, loading effects behind the UI and even behind the effects in game like smoke and fog. This preset has a comic aesthetic, but can easily be customized to create whatever reshade preset you want using my REST profile as the framework to avoid effects tarnishing the UI and preventing effect bleed through smokes and fires in game. The performance hit with this specific preset is substantial, due to the global illumination, but the REST profile has almost no cost, and if you disable the effects that hit you the hardest, you can reap the benefits of REST without the cost of this specific preset. I use a 5060 ti 8gb (@1440p) and an i5 12600k and I honestly need frame gen to avoid 40 fps zone, though this has proven fine for my taste due to it being a singleplayer/coop game.

It requires the addon version of Reshade, as well as the copying of my specific addon profile in order to run properly. Further steps are necessary than a normal Reshade in this regard, but the install remains simple enough.

Tested using Auto HDR from windows settings which forces the game into HDR, therefor I recommend some kind of HDR. Driver settings may be an option here as Valheim does not support HDR natively.

Installation:

• []Install addon version of Reshade from reshade.me - Download ReShade 6. 8. 0 with full add-on support[/]

  []Select valheim.exe in the "game or application" step of the install process[/]

  []Select DX11 as the rendering API[/]

  []Install all effects by checking all the boxes - This is important, all effects I use come from here. Primarily using Zenteon's suite.[/]

  []Install ReshadeEffectShaderToggler (REST) by  4lex4nder[/]

  []Drag and drop the files from the folder contained in this zip (they are .ini files) into your main Valheim directory[/]

  []In game, press home to open the GUI - Within the gui, click addons and scroll down to "list of toggle groups" - Ensure that Comic and Under UI are both checked[/]

  []Then click home - Ensure that RESHADE_DEPTH_LINEARIZATION_FAR_PLANE = 1000, RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_UPSIDE_DOWN = 1, RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED = 1, RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_LOGARITHMIC = 0[/]
