📋 About This Mod
New in version 1. 4:
-
[]TractorMod settings now work correctly - in the past this mod would overwrite user-supplied settings. Now it basically just overrides them and leaves TractorMod's settings file alone.
[
]You can now control the area-of-effect of the tools during play with the "+" and "-" keys on your numeric keypad. You have to be sitting on the tractor for those keys to work. The normal area-of-effect is controlled by TractorMod's "Distance" setting defaults to "1" -- "1" more than the square your tractor is sitting on, so a 3x3 area. If you hit the "-" key, it'll only touch the square your sitting on. Pressing "+" again will put it back to its normal 3x3. If you have reached farming level 10, you can press "+" again and make it a 5x5 area. The limits are 0 and one more than your 'Distance' setting. It will remember your last setting for each tool so, for example, you can just press + once for your watering tool so it's 5x5 then switch to the hoe, and it will go to 3x3 or whatever your last setting was for the hoe. Please give feedback in the 'Posts' section on how this feature works; it feels like there's one or two good ideas yet to be found here.-

Grandpa was a great guy, but maybe not that great at keeping his tractor in good shape. You'll find parts of it around your farm - behind trees, under logs and rocks and, well, let's not spoil too much eh? Granddad's antics with the tractor were the stuff of legend, so there's no shortage of gossip around town to help you get started. Always start by talking to the villagers, but here are some further tips:
[]There are many quests that require you to talk to villagers or bring villagers stuff. The best way to do that and ensure that you're not accidentally gifting them is to hold the quest item (the broken tractor part, not what they asked you for) in your hand when approaching the villager. If you don't have the quest object, hold nothing. Even in quests where you have to bring an item to the villager, holding nothing will work - it's like the Lucky Purple Shorts quest - if the items are in your inventory, they get taken out and the quest proceeds.
[]You should focus on getting the tractor unlocked before worrying about the parts. The tractor is very well hidden - thoroughly search the areas hinted at by the villagers.
[]Pay close attention to villager chat - they'll start talking about it one week into the game. Old timers will have more to say on the subject than relative newcomers to the town.
[]This is built on TractorMod, so you should familiarize yourself with that mod if you are not already.

This mod is for players who want a more balanced, quest-driven unlock for the tractor. With 845 endorsements and frequent updates, it's a well-received gameplay overhaul.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 845 endorsements and nearly 100k downloads.
- Makes the tractor feel earned rather than just bought, which is great for progression-focused players.
- Actively updated (April 2026), so it's likely compatible with the latest game version.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires TractorMod as a dependency, so you need to install that first.
- The description is cut off, so you won't get full details on quest specifics until you check the mod page.
- If you prefer the simple 'buy it when you can afford it' approach, this adds extra steps that might feel like a hassle.
For Stardew Valley players who want the tractor to feel like a natural milestone rather than a late-game money sink. It's perfect for those who enjoy quest-driven progression and want to extend their early-to-mid game content. Skip if you just want the tractor without extra quests.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Install TractorMod first, then drop Questable Tractor into your Mods folder.
- Make sure you have SMAPI installed, as both mods require it to run.
- Start a new save or load an existing one—quests will trigger based on your progress, so you might need to check the mod page for exact conditions.
