📋 About This Mod
Scale recoil, spread and sway by any factor you like. Default is 25% less recoil, not zero - guns still feel like guns. Finds every weapon by class instead of a hardcoded path list, so DLC weapons and future patches are covered with nothing
What it does
Scales weapon recoil, spread and sway by a factor you choose.
The default is recoil = 0. 75 - every gun keeps 75% of its vanilla kick. Unlike "no recoil" mods this does not zero anything out, so weapons still behave like weapons instead of laser pointers. You can set it to 0 if that is what you want.
Requires UE4SS. No pak files, no other mods, nothing else.
Configuration
Edit Scripts/config.txt:
recoil = 0. 75,
spread = 1. 0,
sway = 1. 0
0 = removed entirely, 1 = vanilla, anything in between scales it.
A factor of exactly 1 means the mod never reads that property at all, so it cannot mistake another mod's value for the vanilla one. If you already run a sway mod, leave sway = 1. 0 and the two will not fight over it.
Console commands
Press F10 (needs ConsoleEnablerMod, which ships with UE4SS). Every setting in Scripts/config.txt can be changed from the console. The change is written back to config.txt and applied immediately - no restart, no editing.
WeaponHandling show current state
WeaponHandling config every setting: current value, range, default
WeaponHandling recoil 0. 5 one factor at a time, saved to config.txt, applied at once
WeaponHandling spread 0. 8
WeaponHandling sway 1
WeaponHandling 0. 5 0. 8 1. 0 recoil / spread / sway in one go
WeaponHandling rescan force a fresh scan (freezes the game ~1s)
Why it is built this way
It carries no list of weapon asset paths. It walks the engine's object array and asks each object whether it is a RangedWeaponProfile.
-
[]Completeness. Every weapon is covered, including DLC and anything a future patch adds, with no list to maintain.[/]
[]Correctness. Hardcoded object paths are case sensitive and easy to get subtly wrong - and a wrong path fails silently. The mod looks installed and does nothing at all.[/]
It also rescans. Weapon packages load on demand: a fresh session has only about 9 of the game's 40-odd weapon profiles in memory at the first loading screen, and the rest appear as you acquire them. So the scan repeats once per loading screen, rate limited so a single load does not pay for it three times. Use WeaponHandling rescan to pick up a weapon you got without a loading screen.
Values never compound. The vanilla value of each property is cached the first time it is seen, and every write is computed from that cache rather than from the current value. Re-applying 0. 75 stays 0. 75 - it never drifts to 0. 5625, 0. 42, and so on.
It tells you when it breaks. The log reports "profiles found" and "properties written" as two separate numbers. If a future patch renames a property you get a loud warning rather than a mod that quietly does nothing:
WARNING: found 9 weapon profiles but could not write asingle property -- the property names may have changed in this game version

[]No pak, so it needs no AllowModsMod and no signature bypass.[/]
Credits
Written from scratch. Thanks to the authors of the earlier recoil and sway mods for the idea of scaling these values at all.
