📋 About This Mod
Summary
The isolated patch of Ashlands to the south now has its own design to distinguish it from the foyadas and the neighbouring Molag Amur.
The roughly circular shape of the area, steep walls, with only one path in and out all give it the impression of a secondary caldera to the bigger Red Mountain. Now its outer walls are built up and emphasised to make that impression stronger.
The trees have been swapped for tall petrified ones, the area is a similar lattitude to the West Gash and the Bitter Coast so may have at one point in its history been vibrant from the fertile volcanic soil before the blight and the Ashlands crept in and killed it. Now it is just a tall dead forest.
Compatibility
The changes have been split into two files, trees and walls, for greater choice and compatability. No landscape changes, only added statics.
Load the trees .esp after any mods that change trees such as Vurts Ashlands Overhaul.
Forgotten Wastes by Vaelta is compatible, I very specifically built around it. No longer available sadly.
The Beacons of Mamaea by Kalinter is also compatible, the edge of the new walls come short of interfering.
Both mods are strongly suggested to go alongside.
Devilish Rocky Red Mountain an alternative version is available under optionals that has better compatability.
TR Data - The rocks and trees are from SHOTN but retextured to fit the Ashlands.
A compact location overhaul for Morrowind that gives the isolated ashlands between Ghostgate and Molag Amur a distinct visual identity. With 123 endorsements and nearly 50k downloads, it's a niche but popular choice for players wanting to differentiate that specific region.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 123 endorsements and nearly 50k downloads—clearly a lot of people dig it.
- Focused scope: it only touches that specific ashlands area, so it won't mess with the rest of Vvardenfell.
- Last updated in October 2024, so it's still fresh and likely compatible with current Morrowind setups.
⚠️ Cons
- The description is super thin—no screenshots or detailed feature list, so you're going in blind.
- Only affects one small region, so if you're looking for a broader overhaul, this won't cut it.
- No explicit compatibility notes, so you might need to test it with other landscape mods to avoid conflicts.
For Morrowind veterans who've explored every corner of Vvardenfell and want a fresh look at that specific ashlands stretch. Also for mod collectors who appreciate focused, lore-friendly tweaks. Skip if you want a full landscape overhaul—this is a surgical change.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a simple location mod, just drop the files into your Data Files folder and activate the .esp in the Morrowind Launcher.
- If you use other mods that alter the same region, load this one after them to ensure its changes take priority.
- Make a backup of your save before installing, just in case you want to revert—though this mod is low-risk.
