📋 About This Mod
UHV4UTi0Kd4
A (less metal) spiritual successor to a Stupid-Metal Hitmarker-Mod
Yeah, I know, the name is a mouthful, this mod adds multiple seemingly disconnected things that do actually make sense together. Just trust me, alright?
Was developed to be used in tandem with a Dynamic Camera mod , but will work without it.
Installation
The usual - install using Mod Organiser 2 or extract the archive into Morrowind/Data Files.
Disable vanilla crosshair in Options->Prefs->Crosshair(at the bottom).
Ensure that shaders are enabled in game settings (enemy HP widget is a shader).
Configuration
Check Options->Scripts->Dynamic Reticle - the mod is very configurable. You can even drop new reticle images into a supported folder (it's specified also there in options) and be able to select between them in script options.
How To Remove Vanilla Enemy Health Bar
1. Find ./OpenMW/resources/vfs/mygui/openmw_hud.layout (inside your OpenMW folder, not your Morrowind folder!), if you are using a mod replacing/modifying vanilla hud, such as the beautiful Centered HUD for OpenMW - look for /mygui/openmw_hud.layout inside the mod folder instead (if you are using a mod manager to install it)
2. Open the file with a text editor
3. Find an element with a name EnemyHealth (name="EnemyHealth")
4. In the "position" property of that element - 3rd number is this element's length - set it to 0 to hide the element
e.g you might find an element that looks like this
<Widget type="ProgressBar" skin="MW_EnergyBar_Yellow" position="0 131 80 12" align="Center Bottom" name="EnemyHealth">
<Property key="Visible" value="false"/>
</Widget>
inside position = "..." change 80 to 0. Save the file. Play the game.
Note on 22 Feb 2026 Update
Some default setting values were changed. Default hit and death marker sounds are now different (less outlandish) and their corresponding volumes are higher. Old sounds were "tamborine" for hit and "crash" for death - they are still selectable in settings. A new sound was added - if you are in a mood for something exciting - set "orchestral_hit" as death marker sound.
Credits
Some reticle assets are taken from WoW combat mode plugin (thanks to choirbug) and Fargoth Morrowind Icon
Sounds introduced in 1. 2 update are from Ovani Sound, picked by Sikreci.
Dynamic Reticle is a UI mod for OpenMW that adds an animated, customizable reticle with an enemy HP bar, hitmarkers, and kill slow-mo effects. All features are adjustable in mod settings. With 148 endorsements and 5,403 downloads, it's a niche but appreciated addition for players wanting enhanced combat feedback.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Nice touch for combat immersion—HP bar and hitmarkers make fights feel more responsive.
- Customizable options mean you can tweak it to your liking, not stuck with defaults.
- Solid community support with 148 endorsements and over 5k downloads.
⚠️ Cons
- Only works with OpenMW, so Morrowind players on the original engine miss out.
- Last updated March 2026, but no compatibility notes for future OpenMW versions.
For Morrowind players using OpenMW who want a more modern combat UI with hit feedback and kill effects. If you're a purist who prefers the vanilla HUD, this might feel intrusive, but if you like visual polish, it's worth a shot.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you're running OpenMW, not the original Morrowind engine—this mod won't work otherwise.
- Check the mod settings in-game to adjust reticle style and toggle features like slow-mo if they feel too strong.
- If you use other UI mods, test for conflicts—some may overlap with the HP bar or reticle placement.
