📋 About This Mod
# Disable Hunter Buff Glow — v3
Removes the persistent body-aura glow that hunters get from charm consumables, healing, armor skills, and weapon-class charge states. Audio cues (stingers, loops, chimes) play normally — only the visual glow is killed. Online play works — `pl_skill_016` is intentionally excluded because it triggers Capcom's anti-tamper.
## What's killed
- Charm body aura — Demondrug, Powercharm/Powertalon, etc.
- Healing sparkle — loop + start/finish bursts
- Armor skill auras — 19 of 20 (`pl_skill_016` excluded for online compat)
- Great Sword (`it00`) — basic-charge / fly-charge / sliding-charge / parry-charge tiers + special actions
- Hammer (`it04`) — charge tiers + super-charge tiers (color and distortion/heat-haze) + guard / parry / special
- Insect Glaive (`it10`) — kinsect / extracts / insect-charge / insect-flying
## What's kept
- GS sword glow on parry — engine puts this on the weapon mesh shader, not in the .efx pipeline. Architecturally untouchable by this style of mod.
- IG charge-up — `11_it10_049` and `11_it10_050` left vanilla so the primary attack-feedback visual stays.
- Other weapon classes (`it01-03`, `it05-09`, `it11-13`) — not yet covered. They'll show vanilla glow.
1. Install REFramework + enable Loose File Loader (REFramework menu → Loose File Loader → ON).
2. Drop the contents of this zip into your game folder. The result should be:
<Steam>\steamapps\common\MonsterHunterWilds\natives\STM\Art\VFX\EffectEditor\...
3. Launch the game. Glow should be gone.
## Uninstall
Delete the `natives\STM\Art\VFX\EffectEditor\Player` and `natives\STM\Art\VFX\EffectEditor\Weapon` folders from your game install. Or just delete the entire `natives\STM` folder if you have no other mods sharing it.
## Compat / safety
- REFramework + LFL required. This is a loose-file mod, not a Fluffy Mod Manager package.
- Online verified. Tested with Hunter Connect / Quest matchmaking. If a future Capcom title update adds new file checks and online breaks, uninstall via the step above.
- No SFX changes. RE Engine's `.efx` files are visual-only; audio fires from a parallel gameplay path.
- Title updates may invalidate. If a TU bumps the `.efx. 5571972` schema version, the patched files will fail to load. Uninstall and wait for a refresh.
## Credits / details
Built via REFramework Lua hooking (`cEffectController.playEffectCore` + 8 sibling spawn methods) to capture which EffectIDs fire during specific in-game actions, frame-cross-referenced against `.efx` filenames, then byte-patched in place — every Color fie
