Lossless Engine Tweaks (Reduce Stutter - Improve Latency)

This is a clean Engine.ini tweak pack for Gothic 1 Remake focused on reducing hitching, improving streaming behavior, and smoothing frame-time consistency.

The main file is lossless and does not intentionally lower visual quality or change the game’s look.

This is a config tweak, not a gameplay mod or content mod.

Lossless Engine Tweaks

The safest version. Focuses on:

- Texture streaming behavior

- Async loading and IO behavior

- Shader pipeline cache / PSO behavior

- Garbage collection tuning

- General frame-time stability

No intentional visual downgrade.

Lossless Engine Tweaks with Visual Clarity

Same baseline as Lossless, but also removes common post-process clutter:

- Motion blur

- Film grain

- Chromatic aberration

- Depth of field

- Lens flare

Exposure / eye adaptation and fog are left enabled to avoid dark-image or atmosphere issues.

Performance Engine Tweaks

Optional non-lossless version for weaker systems.

This version uses a balanced performance profile and lowers expensive rendering work such as:

- Global illumination scalability

- Reflections

- Post-process quality

- Effects quality

- Foliage density

- View distance

It does not hard-disable Gothic’s fog or atmosphere.

Use this only if FPS matters more than preserving the original image.

Installation

- Run the game once first.

- Back up your existing Engine.ini if one exists.

- Choose one version only.

- Place Engine.ini in the confirmed config folder.

- Keep Engine.ini set to read-only.

- Launch the game and test normally.

Recommended testing

After installing, pay attention to:

- Traversal hitching

- Asset / texture pop-in

- Shader stutter

- FPS drops in camps, forests, caves, and mines

- General smoothness while moving and turning quickly
