📋 About This Mod
Restores classic, fixed trader prices. Vanilla Gothic 1 Remake lowers an item's value the more of it is in circulation, so bulk-selling tanks the price (and it shifts buy prices too). This mod locks every item to a constant value — sell or
Classic Traders
Fixed prices — no more diminishing returns at the trader.
Description
By default, Gothic 1 Remake runs a supply/demand economy: the more of an item that is in circulation, the less it is worth. Every time you sell something, the trader's — and the whole region's — stock of that item grows, and its value drops. So the second sword is worth less than the first, and the tenth is worth almost nothing. The same mechanic shifts prices when you buy, too.
Classic Traders restores the way trading felt in the original Gothic: every item has a fixed value, and that value never changes no matter how much you buy or sell. Sell a hundred swords and the last one is worth exactly as much as the first.
This affects both selling and buying. Both prices come from the same per-item value, so both are stabilised.
By default, every trader values an item the same — regardless of their profession or which region they trade in. (Vanilla also nudges prices by trader type and camp; this mod flattens that too out of the box. If you prefer to keep that vanilla flavour, two settings turn it back on — see Configuration.)
Features
-
[]Item prices stay constant regardless of how much you buy or sell.[/]
[]Removes both of the game's dynamic price effects: the per-region supply effect, and the "liquidity" effect that makes a trader pay you less when he runs short on ore.[/]
[]Works on existing saves and mid-playthrough — no new game required.[/]
[]Purely a runtime tweak: nothing is written into your save, so it is safe to add or remove at any time.[/]
[]Fully configurable — keep pure base values (default), lock in the full "first-unit" price, or set your own.[/]
[]"Range" mode: instead of fixing prices completely, you can keep the supply effect but fence it in: prices still react to stock, but only within a floor and ceiling you choose (e.g. "never drops more than 30% below base").[/]
[]Optional: set separate buy and sell price multipliers — e.g. make traders pay you less for your goods than they charge you, for a tougher economy. Off by default.[/]
[]Every trader values an item the same, regardless of their profession or region — on by default. Vanilla gives each trader type (blacksmith, farmer, ...) and each region its own price table for item categories, so the same sword can be worth more to a blacksmith than to a farmer; this mod flattens those tables. (Set TraderTypePrices / RegionPrices to "keep" if you want to keep the vanilla per-profession / per-region differences. Needs the experimental UE4SS build — see Configuration.)[/]
[]New in 1. 6. 0 — your settings survive updates: the configuration now lives in its own file outside the mod folder, created automatically on first launch with documentation for every option. Updating the mod never resets it — new options are appended to your file automatically.[/]
[]Lightweight Lua mod: no .pak files, no replaced assets.[/]
Requirements
-
[]UE4SS (Unreal Engine 4/5 Scripting System) — required; this is a UE4SS Lua mod and will not run without it.[/]
[]Required: RE-UE4SS (experimental) — download it here:
https://github.com/UE4SS-RE/RE-UE4SS/releases/download/experimental/UE4SS_v3. 0. 1-953-gb872ad11.zip
This is the build the mod is tested against. The experimental build is required — the mod does not run correctly on the older stable UE4SS release (the game crashes when you first talk to a trader).
Newer versions of the experimental version may also work but this is the one i tested against.[/]
Installation
Make sure UE4SS (experimental-latest) is installed in your game folder first (see Requirements above).
-
[]Download the archive and extract it.[/]
[]Copy the G1R_ClassicTraders folder into your UE4SS mods folder:
...\Gothic 1 Remake\G1R\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\[/]
[]The result should look like this:
...\G1R\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\G1R_ClassicTraders\Scripts\main.lua[/]
[]Open mods.json in that same Mods folder and add this entry to the list (watch the commas between entries):
"mod_name": "G1R_ClassicTraders",
"mod_enabled": true
[]Launch the game. That is it — the mod loads automatically.[/]
-
[]Download the archive and extract it.[/]
-
[]UE4SS (Unreal Engine 4/5 Scripting System) — required; this is a UE4SS Lua mod and will not run without it.[/]
