📋 About This Mod

Multiply all the experience you earn by a configurable factor — level up faster (or slower). Simple, safe, and lightweight.

EXP Modifier

Take control of your progression. EXP Modifier multiplies all the experience you gain — from monster kills, quest rewards, any source — by a factor you choose in a simple text file. Want to breeze through the early grind at 2x, or take it slow at 0. 5x? Your call.

  • []Multiply all XP — one setting scales every experience gain (kills, quests, everything).[/]

    []See what you got — an on-screen note (top right, optional) shows every bonus as it happens, e.g. +40 bonus EXP (40 -> 80, x2. 0).[/]

    []Fully configurable — set your multiplier in a plain INI file, or change it live in-game via the optional SharedModMenu integration.[/]

    []Real leveling — you level up normally with all the usual rewards (learn points, stats); the game handles the leveling, the mod just feeds it more XP.[/]

    []Safe & lightweight — pure gameplay logic, no asset replacement, and it hooks nothing in the engine, so it can't break your game.[/]

    How it works

    The mod watches your experience and, whenever you gain some, tops it up by your multiplier. The game then does all the leveling itself. Because it never hooks or replaces any game function, your XP and leveling keep working normally even if the mod is disabled or fails — you just get the base amount.

    Good to know

    • []Multiplier range is 0 – 10. The game grants roughly one level per XP gain, so extremely high values would make your level lag behind your XP (a full bar at a low level). Values are capped at 10; for smooth play, 1. 5 – 5 is ideal.[/]

      []The floating "+X" popup on a kill shows the game's base amount, not the multiplied one — that popup is the game's own. The mod's bonus note (top right) shows the real multiplied gain, so you always see what you actually received.[/]

      []First level-up is one kill "late". The game checks for a level-up on your next XP gain, so the very first level after crossing a threshold lands a kill later. Negligible in normal play.[/]

      Requirements

      • []UE4SS — use the latest experimental release (needed for Unreal Engine 5. 4).[/]

        Installation

        Mod manager (Vortex): just install the archive normally — it contains the full path, so the files are placed correctly.

        Manual:

        • []Install UE4SS first (latest experimental release, link above).[/]

          []Extract the archive into your Gothic 1 Remake game folder (the one that contains G1R):

          ...\steamapps\common\Gothic 1 Remake\

          The files will end up at ...\Gothic 1 Remake\G1R\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\EXPModifier.[/]

          []That's it — the mod is enabled by default (it ships with an enabled.txt).

          Alternatively you can manage it in ue4ss\Mods\mods.txt with the line EXPModifier : 1.[/]

          []Start the game once — on first launch the mod creates its config file EXPModifier.ini with default settings.[/]

          Configuration

          Start the game once first so the mod generates EXPModifier.ini in its folder. Then open it in any text editor, change the values, save, and restart the game to apply them. Updating the mod never overwrites your settings — the config keeps your values and just adds any new options (and removes obsolete ones).

          ; Multiplier applied to ALL experience you gain (kills, quests, any source).

          ; 2. 0 = double, 3. 0 = triple, 0. 5 = half, 1. 0 = no change (off). Range 0 - 10.

          ExpMultiplier=2. 0

          ; How often (ms) the mod checks for XP gains. 250 is a good default. Minimum 50.

          UpdateIntervalMs=250

          ; Show a short on-screen note (top right) whenever the mod adds bonus XP. true/false.

          ShowBonusMessage=true

          ; How long (seconds) the bonus note stays on screen. 1 - 10.

          MessageDurationSeconds=3

          ; Log each XP gain to the UE4SS console (for testing). true/false.

          Debug=false

          Optional: in-game settings menu

          If you have the SharedModMenu mod installed, EXPModifier automatically shows up as its own tab in the in-game menu (default F2). Change the multiplier live — it applies instantly, no restart — and every change is saved to the config file. Completely optional: without SharedModMenu everything w
