Vanilla Style Street Vendors

Made for game v2. 31. Tested with PL, should work without.

TL;DR

Allows you to interact with street vendors in an immersive way: simply approach a vendor and a conversation prompt will appear, letting you initiate trade.

How is it different from Vanilla?

Vanilla implementation of street vendors is very disappointing, covering only a fraction of NPCs.

It also has no actual voice lines: hitting a choice just opens the menu silently.

How is it different from Street Vendors?

That beloved gem of early mod scene is no longer updated. Additionally, it has two main drawbacks:

  As the name suggests, this mod is a Vanilla-style re-imagining, inspired by the original Street Vendors.

  NOTE: If you are a user of my Vendor Filters mod, you may recognize this as a part of its functionality.

  Well, not anymore, it isn't! This is a standalone and more polished version of that system, which is retired from Vendor Filters in v2. 0. 0. I highly recommend updating, or, at the very least, disabling that mod's street vendor component in the menu.

  What it does not do

  This mod does not (and, likely, will not) provide responses from vendors. These would require much, much, MUCH more effort to implement for a very little payoff.

  Details

  Unless you are in combat or driving, the mod is constantly (every 0. 25 seconds by default) looking for a valid vendor within a certain distance. Much like Vanilla interactions with NPCs, you do not have to stare directly at them, but they must be clearly visible.

  Once target is acquired, a typical conversation prompt will appear with a single choice to initiate trade.

  There is currently a small pool of lines, which will eventually be updated. All of the lines are taken from Vanilla conversations and thus are fully voiced and subtitled (powered by Audioware).

  This also means that the mod is already fully (1) localized, except for its menu, which is English-only.

  Activating the dialogue choice (like you would any other dialogue), will make V say the line (2) and open the trade menu.

  This prompt will not appear if you are interacting with a real vendor NPC, but will override Vanilla prompts for street vendors.

  The prompt can stack underneath other active conversations. Using regular dialogue navigation will correctly scroll through both real conversations and this custom prompt.

  The prompt is sensitive to phone calls and will be correctly locked if a call is in progress.
