📋 About This Mod
What does this mod do?
The X4 economy can stagnate when NPC stations hoard wares and stop creating demand. Keep Economy Alive fixes this by periodically trimming excess stock at NPC stations, ensuring there is always demand flowing through the galaxy.
This mod does NOT cheat. No wares are added to any station. The small amount of excess wares removed has minimal impact on individual stations but keeps the broader economy healthy by guaranteeing demand never dries up.
On top of that, v2. 0 introduces Supply Mission Offers - when stations hit critically low stock levels, the mod creates delivery missions so you can get paid to help supply them. No more constantly checking logbook notifications to find out who needs what.
Features
-
[]Demand Preservation - Trims wares above 75% capacity at NPC trade stations, shipyards, wharfs, and equipment docks. This is a small trim that keeps demand alive without significantly affecting station operations. Nividium uses a stricter 50% threshold.[/]
[]Supply Mission Offers - Stations with wares below 10% capacity generate delivery missions on their bulletin boards. Accept a mission, deliver the goods, and earn a bonus reward on top of normal trade profits.[/]
[]Smart Prioritization - Shipyard and wharf shortages are always prioritized over trade station shortages, because ship production bottlenecks hurt the economy the most.[/]
[]Controlled Mission Flow - Maximum 6 active supply missions at a time, with no more than 2 missions for the same ware type. This keeps your mission log clean and varied.[/]
[]Logbook Notifications - Detailed shortage reports logged with station names, quantities needed, prices, and map markers.[/]
[]Fully Configurable - Toggle missions on/off, adjust limits, enable/disable logbook notifications.[/]
How It Works
Every 20 minutes, the mod scans all NPC-owned trade stations, shipyards, wharfs, equipment docks, and pirate bases across the galaxy (player, Xenon, and Khaak stations are excluded).
1. Keeping Demand Alive
When a station's stock of any ware exceeds 75% of its target capacity, the excess is trimmed back. This is a minor reduction that prevents stations from sitting at 100% capacity with zero demand. The economy needs buyers, not warehouses.
2. Shortage Detection
Any ware that drops below 10% of target capacity is flagged as a critical shortage. These are logged to your logbook with full details: ware name, quantity needed, unit price, and total potential income.
3. Supply Missions
The most critical shortages become delivery missions available on station bulletin boards:
[]Shipyard/wharf shortages are offered first (they impact the economy the most)[/]
