What it does?
Enables Ice Breath FX to Geralt, Roach and NPCs( Men, Women, Children) while in Skellige. Also as optional you can have Custom Snow particles to some Skellige Weathers.
(Click the "Videos" button for better reference on the Snow)
How it works?
Now with v2 you have some options using the menu! MENU > OPTIONS > MODS > ICE BREATH SETTINGS
Cold Places: Enables the effect to whatever weather when you are at: AN_Skellige_ArdSkellig AN_Island_of_Myst AN_Prologue_Village_Winter AN_Kaer_Morhen (If you don't set anything to the menu or choose to not have it, "Cold Places" will be the default behaviour)
Cold Weather: Enables the effect based on the current Weather does not matter the Map you are. Affected weathers are:
WT_Snow WT_Blizzard WT_Battle WT_Battle_Forest WT_Mid_Clouds_Fog WT_Wild_Hunt WT_q501_Blizzard WT_q501_Storm WT_q501_Blizzard2 WT_q604_Snow
Forced: It will enable the effect no matter what
Disabled: Will never enable the effect
The script checks the conditions of area, weather and settings from 5 to 5 seconds.(no hotkeys needed) So when you choose something from the menu it will have effect after 5 seconds.
Examples: - To Skellige always on, choose "Cold Places" - Don't want Skellige to always have it enabled. Choose Cold Weather or Disabled - Didn't like Kaer Morhen with Breath Fx? Choose Cold Weather or Disabled. - Want to have have Ice Breath to Rain Weather in Velen? Choose Forced
Installation:
To have just the Ice Breath FX without changing the Weather, just drop modIceBreath to <The Witcher 3 Install folder>\mods
To have the menu, download the second file "Ice Breath Menu" and drop the "bin" folder to <The Witcher 3 Install folder>. It will ask you to merge the bin folders. CONFIRM!
Optional part: If you want to change the weather and have the new Snow particles you need to install 2 other parts: DLCIce, contains the new Snow particles and have b

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust with 5,071 endorsements and over 200k downloads
- Adds a subtle but immersive touch to cold environments
- Optional snow particles give extra weather variety for Skellige
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2017 – may not be compatible with the latest game version or DLCs
- Only affects visual effects, not gameplay mechanics – might be too minor for some
For Witcher 3 players who want to add a bit of atmospheric realism to cold regions, especially those who enjoy visual immersion mods. If you're looking for gameplay overhauls, this isn't for you – it's purely cosmetic.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure to place the mod folder in your 'Mods' directory (e.g., The Witcher 3\Mods).
- If you use other weather or FX mods, test for conflicts – they may override the snow particles.
- Back up your original game files before installing, just in case you want to revert.
