Have you ever seen the back of the PDA?
Nobody has. People have always been too glued to the screen on the front to realize its true capability.
If you ever thought to look at the back, you'd know that the PDA actually features eight ports for tiny computer chips that allow for modifications and new functionality that was never even thought to be possible.
⎗ PDA Upgrade ChipsThis mod adds a new menu to the PDA that allows for equipping PDA upgrade chips. These chips improve the PDA's software, activating new improvements, functionalities, buttons, etc. This mod currently includes six types of PDA upgrades, plus 2 extra upgrade tiers. Other mods can also use this mod as a base for adding their own upgrades, making it a form of a library mod as well.
You can craft these in the Fabricator's equipment tab and in the Modification Station.
Music Player Upgrade
This upgrade adds a music player to the main PDA screen! This is a fully functional in-game music player with all the basic features you could ever need for listening to tracks. You may want to turn down the in-game music volume if your own tracks are overlapping with it.
You can insert your own custom tracks by simply placing sound files into the correct folder. The PDA supports mp3, wav and ogg files. Find the music folder by hitting the 📁 icon in your PDA, or navigate to Subnautica\BepInEx\config\PdaUpgradeChips\MusicTracks.
The music player is also capable of loading music tracks from other mods. This is defined by the ModMusic.config file, which by default loads tracks from The Red Plague, CotV and RotA.
Leviathan Detector Upgrade
No idea why the PDA never had this before, but this upgrade alerts you when a leviathan is nearby. The PDA will announce it, alongside a small warning icon so that you don't forget. The range is not the best, but it might still save your life.
PDA Colorizer Upgrade
The PDA was equipped with RGB lighting this whole time, and I guess nobody ever thought to change the setting off of 'blue'. With this upgrade, you can set the PDA color to any color that exists, and even adjust the brightness of the screen.
Pocket Dimension Upgrades (Mk 1 -3)
