Resolve - Autosave Restrictions

Fallout 4's survival mode introduced a new level of challenge and immersion to the game. Players had to carefully consider every action and approach each situation with caution, as the new save restrictions meant that they couldn't rely on quicksaves to undo their mistakes. This mod aims to bring a similar experience to Starfield by implementing a modified version of those restrictions.

The mod alters the way autosaving works by limiting it to certain safe locations such as your ship, outposts, or cities. This means that while the game will still save regularly when you're not in combat, it won't do so while you're exploring dangerous alien worlds or delving into hostile dungeons. This creates a sense of tension and risk that mirrors the intense experience of Fallout 4's Survival mode.

In order to use the mod, players need to disable the vanilla autosave feature in the game menu, as the mod introduces a new autosave system. Quick saves and manual saves remain functional, so the mod requires restraint. However, having the option to manually save under specific circumstances is useful as it is a Bethesda game after all.  If you find you are still quick saving, you can just unbind the F5 key.
