📋 About This Mod

Ever thought it was unfair you can walk everywhere in town, but you can't walk to the desert?

Well now you can!

But there are reasons that everybody else just takes the bus... the road is long, and it's full of monsters! You'll want to either take a sword, or run fast.

What's New in Version 1. 1. 1

Quick fix to make the horse path compatible to the new vanilla staircase added late game.  Further fixes still needed to make compatible with other mods -- I'll hopefully get this figured out soon..... -_-

Version 1. 1. 0

Added a workaround for the new tunnel behavior that forces you to dismount your horse (or tractor) at the entrance to the tunnel.  Now there is a horse path, clearly marked by little signs, that will get you safely to the other side.

Also finally finished the restructuring and rewriting of the map recolors.  Your smapi logs should be much less cluttered now, haha.

Support for A Vibrant Pastoral Recolor has now been added.  I have the framework in place for A Wittily Named Recolor, but I haven't finished implementing it yet.  Next update, hopefully.

Version 1. 0. 7

Quick fix for the wandering NPC problem -- as funny as it is to see Pam staring at a rock in the meadow, that's not what's supposed to happen!  There's no beer, Pam!  Go home!

If you still see NPCs wandering around, please message me and give me as much information as possible -- which NPC, which map, and what time of day.

Version 1. 0. 6

Added Custom NPC Exclusions as a requirement -- prevents Christmas giftee absenteeism.

Finally figured out how to fix the sound effect for walking on roads.

Compatibility

Walk to the Desert is compatible with the maps Stardew Valley Expanded and the Boarding House and Bus Stop Extension. It's probably compatible with most other expansions, too, but these are the ones I've tested so far. Unless the other mod makes edits to the Tunnel or the Desert maps, it should work just fine. And if there are any map issues, I can add a fix for that specific mod.

You'll need to make some adjustments to ensure compatibility with Stardew Valley Expanded.  First of all, you need to follow the SVE install instructions and put all its folders into your base mod folder. Next, make sure you only have one copy of CustomNPCFixes. SVE includes its own copy, so you don't need to download the official copy if you have SVE installed. Older versions of SVE have a bug with the Anti-social NPC mod, but this is fixed in the latest release.

Phantom Bus -- When you cross into the desert, you will suddenly be on a bus and get a ride the rest of the way to the desert bus stop.  This behavior is hard-coded into the game, and I'm not interested in trying to ch

💡 Beginner Tips
