🔀 Skyrim Mod Compatibility

A complete Skyrim modding guide.

🔀 Compatibility Matrix

Two NPC overhauls + each other

Both edit the same NPC records → grey face bug. Pick one, or install a face-gen patch.

Two combat overhauls + each other

They overwrite the same perks and animations. Use one combat overhaul.

Two weather mods + each other

They fight over lighting. Pick one weather mod and match your ENB preset to it.

ENB + Community Shaders

Mutually exclusive post-processors — do not run both.

Engine Fixes + Community Shaders

Known incompatibility — Community Shaders crashes with Engine Fixes installed.

Texture replacers + each other

They overwrite the same files; the last one wins. Fine, but you only see one.

When two mods edit the same record (a cell, an NPC, a leveled list), the later one in your load order wins — and the earlier mod's changes are lost. Sort with LOOT, then inspect with SSEEdit (xEdit) to see conflicts. For popular mod pairs, a compatibility patch usually exists. The rule: patch last, and let LOOT sort.
