More Challenging Exploration - No Checkpoint or Interaction Icons

On your first run, part of the fun is hunting for the next checkpoint, merchants, doors, etc. Whatever its combat difficulty, Sekiro caved in to the Jim Sterling School of Easy Mode for certain icons.

Unlike previous From games, the checkpoints and interactable items put up an icon once you get close to them. This wouldn't matter if the icon only appeared when you're right next to the item. The problem is that the icon can appear through walls, rocks, etc before you know the item is there. There's not much point tucking away a checkpoint, or a secret door, when this icon is there to guide you.

Think how much less fun exploration would have been in Dark Souls' Catacombs if the "hidden" bonfires had these icons.

Compatibility with other UI mods:

This mod modifies 01_common.tpf.dcx and will overwrite that file. Check what's in your \Sekiro\mods\menu\hi\ directory before installing.

If you're using a mod that employs 01_common.sblytbnd.dcx, they may or may not be fully compatible. It depends on exactly which underlying texture files each mod has changed. At worst the files don't overwrite each other, so you can simply delete one or the other if there's a conflict in game.

e.g. this mod is currently compatible with Minimal HUD mod, A - Minimal HUD v2. 0, No Enemy Awareness https://www.nexusmods.com/sekiro/mods/12

(Minimal HUD's file is 01_common.sblytbnd.dcx, while mine is 01_common.tpf.dcx. The changes made by both mods show up correctly in game.)

v2. 0 Update

Added a version which removes Interaction icons as well as Sculptor's Idol icons.

Note this version is very similar to Minimal HUD mod, "Unnecessary Icons". The main difference is mine retains the auto-save icon in the upper right corner (I like to see that one for when I'm making a save point.)

Install:

1. Install mod engine (https://www.nexusmods.com/sekiro/mods/6)

2. Extract the zip file and copy one of the four "menu" directory to Sekiro\mods.

Original Xbox controls\ has the original buttons and  PS4 controls\ has the ps4 buttons

Once you've chosen your controls, choose either No Checkpoints or No Checkpoints and Interactions

When installed, your directory structure should look like:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Sekiro\mods\menu\hi\01_common.tpf.dcx
