16x10 UI Fixes for Sekiro (Steam Deck compatible)

Now that I've finally gotten around to Sekiro on my 16:10 laptop, I decided to try my hand at adjusting the UI for it as well. I was delighted to see someone had already done so, and they got very far, but they hadn't quite knocked off every loose end. Well, here you go!

I decided not to lower the HUD this time because it's all in one giant UI file and the game was not kind to me editing that one. I'll probably try messing with it again in the future, hence the 0. 9 initial upload. Getting the big idol found and unseen aid messages to fully cover the screen was an exercise in futility lol. HOW TO INSTALL

I recommend using me3 or Sekiro Mod Engine, but UXM will work as well. Install this like any other Mod Engine mod, or extract over the original game files if using UXM.

MANDATORY PREP

As for removing the black bars, there is no equivalent Remove Black Bars mod for Sekiro, but the ever-present Lyall has a platform-agnostic DLL solution removes the letterboxing as well as setting arbitrary resolutions. rootBrz has a similar mod on Nexus that even has a UI, but reports say this one doesn't work with ReShade or mods like huutaiii's SekiroTSR, and I can corroborate this.

For those who'd like to hex edit (not recommended as the DLL solutions work great on any platform—still leaving this here for documentation's sake):

For your first step, you have to follow the instructions here. This is unfortunately pretty technical, somewhat ToS-breaking, and involves some potentially Windows-only software, so Steam Deck users are gonna have to tinker hard. Mod Engine will also now permanently yell at you that you're using a cracked version of the game, but you can just press Enter and close the window—it's a benign warning.

Once you've changed those hex values (they change a check to disable the function that draws the black bars), you have two options. For the least amount of hassle, you can continue to use SekiroFpsUnlockAndMore to add your resolution and unlock the frame limiter every time you boot the game up. Linux/Steam Deck users can follow the instructions here for a native patcher (untested, as I don't own a Deck or a 16:10 Linux machine).

If you want to continue to hex edit for untethered access to your resolution, then you'll want to follow the same instructions from my Dark Souls III UI mod. The video and its website is all you need, and all the values mentioned in it apply to Sekiro.
