📋 About This Mod
This mod basically lets you assess enemy informations and damage differentiations on them.
Assess — see what your hits actually do
R. E. P. O. never tells you how much damage you dealt or how much an enemy has left. You learn that something was nearly dead by watching it die. Assess answers the question: floating damage numbers, and a health bar on the enemies you look at.
What it does
-
[]Damage numbers. Every time an enemy takes damage, the amount floats up above it — your weapons, a tumble, a fall, a death pit, all of it. The killing blow is marked so you can see exactly what finished something off.[/]
[]Health bar on hover. Look at an enemy and read what it has left, with the current and maximum numbers on the bar. Quiet and deliberate — you get the reading when you ask for it.[/]
[]Health bar above every enemy. Optional, and off by default (see below).[/]
It is the missing readout for the rest of a combat setup. If you run leveling or damage mods, this is how you finally see a Tumble Launch or a damage multiplier working instead of taking it on faith — watching a hit land for 400 instead of 60 is the whole point. It also rounds out a trio: one mod shows where the loot is, one shows where the enemies are, and Assess shows what condition they are in.
It is accurate as a co-op client — which is the hard part
Enemy health in R. E. P. O. is tracked on the host. On a client the game keeps every enemy pinned at full health internally, forever — it never updates, and it is never sent to you. A mod that simply read that value would show every enemy at full health to every client and look like it was working the whole time.
Assess reconstructs the real number instead, from the hit and death events the game already broadcasts to everyone. It is exact rather than a guess: every source of damage in the game runs through the same path, the killing blow tells us what was left, and enemies start from a value that is identical on every machine. The one enemy in the game that heals broadcasts its own health, so even that is covered.
The upshot: Assess sends nothing over the network, needs no host install, and has no setting to get wrong. It works in any lobby, against any host, whether or not they run it — and only you see your own numbers.
Configuration
Everything works out of the box. Worth knowing:
-
[]Damage numbers — toggle, on-screen duration, and font size.[/]
[]Show bar on hover — on by default.[/]
[]Show a bar above every enemy — off by default on purpose. R. E. P. O. leans on not quite knowing what is around you, and a permanent bar over everything spends that tension for information you rarely need. Hovering gives you the same answer when you actually want it. Turn it on if you disagree — it is your game.[/]
[]Require line of sight — on by default; with it off you read enemy health through walls, which is a real advantage and a real change to how the game feels.[/]
[]Max distance for the bars.[/]
Multiplayer & safety
-
[]Fully client-side — it only reads broadcasts the game already sends and never sends anything itself, so it cannot affect your connection or anyone else's game.[/]
[]Works as host, as client, and in single player, with the same accuracy in each.[/]
[]The host does not need the mod. Nobody else does either.[/]
Requirements
-
[]BepInEx (BepInExPack for R. E. P. O.) — required. Nothing else.[/]
Installation
Extract the archive into your R. E. P. O. folder (where REPO.exe is) so that Assess.dll lands in BepInEx/plugins/headclef-Assess/. Launch the game once to generate the config.
Client-side and safe to run in any lobby. Feedback and bug reports are always welcome.
