📋 About This Mod
This mod basically allows co-op client players to relay their character stats and damages to host player so that my other mods work fine. For developers: I'm sure, if used correctly it can also relay other mods' informations as well.
Relay — co-op delivery for the stats R. E. P. O. simulates on the host
You most likely installed this because Improve or Berserk asked for it. On its own Relay does nothing you can see — it is the piece that lets a few stubborn stats reach you when you are not the host. Here is exactly what it is for, and the one setting that matters.
The problem it solves
R. E. P. O. runs most of the game on the host's machine. For most stats that is invisible to you — your health, sprint, stamina and so on are read on your own machine, so a mod can just apply them. But four are computed by the host, from the host's own copy of your character:
-
[]Grab Strength[/]
[]Tumble Launch[/]
[]Throw[/]
[]Tumble Wings[/]
The host's copy of you only knows the upgrades you bought — it never learns about your mods. And every message the game has for changing a stat is host-only by design, so as a co-op client you simply cannot reach those four. Improve's allocations for them, Berserk's boost, Train's trained levels — all real on your screen, all doing nothing.
What Relay does
Relay is the bridge across that gap. Your client reports what those four stats should be, and Relay on the host applies them to the host's copy of you — the copy that actually computes the forces. Improve, Berserk and Train all feed the same Relay, and it adds their contributions together and applies the total once, so they stack instead of fighting.
It only ever writes live values, never anything that gets saved, so your bonus can never end up in the host's save file. And it sends nothing at all unless you switch it on.
The one setting — and please read this
Relay ships OFF by default, and it takes both you and the host to turn it on:
-
[]In-game mod config menu → Relay → Multiplayer → Enabled, or[/]
[]BepInEx/config/headclef. Relay.cfg → → Enabled = true[/]
Both machines need it on. Against a host who has not turned it on, nothing happens and nothing breaks — you just keep vanilla behaviour for those four stats. If you turn it on and connect and something with the server list or region select misbehaves, turn it back off; that is the whole reason it is opt-in.
Why off by default: an earlier version of this bridge, built into Improve, broke multiplayer connect outright — the server list would not load and picking a region hung the game. The cause was never fully proven, so this version was rebuilt from scratch to touch the network only from inside a running level and never during connect, and it stays behind a switch you choose to flip. With it off, the mods behave exactly as they do without Relay.
Multiplayer & safety
-
[]Fully client-side; it only boosts your own character, never anyone else's.[/]
[]Never writes the host's save — your bonus lives only in live memory and is gone when you leave.[/]
[]Does nothing at all with the switch off.[/]
Requirements
-
[]BepInEx (BepInExPack for R. E. P. O.) — required.[/]
[]Character Stats — recommended. Relay bridges the raw force on its own, but Character Stats is what lets things that read the stat level (like tumble-damage scaling) see the bridged value too.[/]
[]Improve and/or Berserk — the mods that actually use Relay. Relay on its own has nothing to carry.[/]
Installation
Extract the archive into your R. E. P. O. folder (where REPO.exe is) so that Relay.dll lands in BepInEx/plugins/headclef-Relay/. Then turn the switch on — see above — on both machines.
Client-side and safe to run in any lobby. Feedback and bug reports are always welcome.
