Plan your base footprint, move a locked grid in precise steps, and hold square foundations on grid cells while adjusting their height.

Surveyor starts north–south/east–west.

Every new survey uses the default compass alignment regardless of where the camera points. Shift + Page Down aligns it to a completed square foundation below you, or to your view direction over suitable ground.

Quick start

Page Up starts or stops Surveyor. Page Down locks it in place or returns to following you. Shift + Page Up shows or hides the planning grid.

While locked, the arrow keys move the plan in 25 cm steps relative to your view. Shift + Up/Down raises or lowers it in 25 cm steps. The held foundation preview moves with the grid; completed buildings stay in place.

GridLock across the grid

Choose a supported square foundation in the normal build menu. With the survey locked and grid visible, bring the preview near the cell you want and hold the game's Align control (RT with the default controller layout). GridLock holds that cell and the grid angle while you aim up/down to adjust height. Release Align to choose another cell.

Supported square-foundation families: Wood, Stone, Metal, Glass, Ancient, Futuristic (SF), and Japanese-style. Triangular foundations and arbitrary modded pieces are not included.

Automatic circle or square planning

With Square Bases active, Surveyor uses its square footprint. Otherwise, Surveyor keeps the vanilla circle. Grid alignment is independent of an existing Palbox's facing. Surveyor is a planning aid and does not move a real Palbox, flatten terrain or change base ownership.

Operator's manual

The full manual covers alignment, all controls, following and locked modes, grid-cell selection, height offsets, supported foundations and troubleshooting. Surveyor's start/stop and nudge controls use the keyboard by default; the game's Align action supports controller GridLock.

Installation and updates

Requires Palworld for Windows and Palworld-specific UE4SS. PalSchema is not required.

Keep one active copy of each mod. If you use a Workshop edition, avoid adding a second manual copy. These are separate standalone downloads; companions are optional.

Operator's manual

Surveyor starts aligned north–south/east–west. With the default settings, every new survey begins with its grid parallel to the compass directions, regardless of which way you are looking. Turning your camera does not rotate that grid.

Use Shift + Page Down to deliberately choose a different alignment. Stop Surveyor with Page Up, then start it again to return to the default compass alignment. Restarting also clears your locked position and manual height offset, so finish any placement you want to keep first.

Surveyor lets you inspect a proposed base footprint, plan square-foundation spacing, and hold a foundation preview on a chosen grid cell while adjusting its height. The survey is a planning tool: it does not move an existing Palbox, change a real base's boundaries, flatten terrain, or move completed buildings.

Quick start

1. Press Page Up. The survey follows you on foot or while mounted, and the foundation grid starts visible.

2. Keep the default north–south/east–west alignment, or press Shift + Page Down to align to the completed square foundation directly below you. Over open ground, that command uses your current view direction instead.

3. Walk or fly to the site you want, then press Page Down to lock the survey there.

4. Tap the arrow keys to move the locked plan horizontally in 25 cm steps, relative to your current view. Use Shift + Up/Down to raise/lower it in 25 cm steps.
