📋 About This Mod
Attention: This mod is not compatible with AWS, Natural Environments or any other mod that changes default weather. Only use it with vanilla (default) weather! This is a very simple mod that increases the view distance for the three far view default weather types (clear, cloudy, overcast) by 50%. To get good results (and a view like on the screenshots) I recommend two ini changes. Search for these lines in your Oblivion.ini (in my documents/my games/oblivion/): uGridDistantTreeRange=15 uGridDistantCount=25 Set both of them to 45. This will increase the distance at which you see buildings and trees. Of course it will have impact on your performance, but on my system it is negligible. =Installation= Put the FarView.esp in your Oblivion/Data folder. Enable the esp in the \'data files\' section of the Oblivion launcher.
Far View is a compact utility mod for Oblivion that increases view distance for clear, cloudy, and overcast weather, improving long-range visibility. With 102 endorsements and last updated in 2008, it's a simple, dated tweak for players who want to see further without changing gameplay.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Tiny download and easy to install—just drop it in your Data folder
- Does exactly what it says: boosts view distance for three weather types
- Decent community trust with 102 endorsements and 4.7k downloads
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2008—likely incompatible with modern Oblivion setups or mods that alter weather
- No documentation or install instructions provided by the author
- Only affects three weather types; clear, cloudy, and overcast—foggy or rainy weather remains unchanged
For Oblivion players who want to see distant landscapes more clearly during common weather conditions without installing heavy graphics overhauls. Skip if you play with weather mods that already adjust view distance or if you want a modern, actively maintained solution.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Place the .esp file in your Oblivion/Data folder and enable it in the launcher's Data Files section.
- If you use a mod manager like Wrye Bash or OBMM, install it through that to keep your load order tidy.
- Since it's from 2008, test it early in your playthrough to ensure it doesn't conflict with your weather or landscape mods.
