📋 About This Mod
Character faces in Fallout 3 and New Vegas are pretty ugly, and they still are, but the odd color tinting you'll see on NPCs, typically NPCs with darker skin tones, is now muted. Mostly fixed, you might say. First, credit to this thread over at the TTW forums for the information about EGT files.
Why shouldn't we use the files linked in the thread? It comes down to a matter of opinion, but the edited EGT files provided there end up loosing too much of the detail present in the original FaceGen textures. It doesn't look bad, but a little too bare for my taste. With my EGT edits, I tried to take a middle ground between the ugly colors and detail. The downside is not all of the ugliness is corrected, but it is much better than it was originally.
Disclaimer: There used to be nonsense about the body here, but it never mattered. I removed most edits to the body layers, as they either did nothing/were vaguely worse than stock.

The files included in the download cover the vanilla game plus the DLCs, with base game faces (no mods). And if you're on TTW, the same applies. If you want the changes to apply to NPCs with faces edited by mods, or new NPCs entirely, you'll need to download the optional file with the EGTs and generate FaceGen in the GECK. Quick tutorial here.
You need JIP for the BSAs to work properly. You can extract the BSA if you wish, but you're on your own if you do.
The optional file is my edited EGTs for use with the GECK.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge download count (683k) shows it's a go-to fix for ugly NPC faces.
- Simple texture tweak — no gameplay changes, just better-looking characters.
- Works for both NV and TTW, so it covers a lot of players.
⚠️ Cons
- Author admits it's 'mostly effective' — some blotchiness may remain.
- Last updated Dec 2025 — but no guarantee it's compatible with the latest game patches or mods.
For Fallout: New Vegas and TTW players who are tired of NPC faces looking like they have a skin condition. If you want a quick, lightweight visual improvement without touching gameplay, this is for you. Skip if you're looking for more dramatic overhauls — this is a subtle fix.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you're using a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, just download and install — it'll handle the file placement.
- For manual install, drop the textures folder into your Data folder and make sure it's enabled in your load order.
- If you're on TTW, make sure you install the correct version for your setup — check the mod page for any specific instructions.
