📋 About This Mod
By enabling the "Change dialog topic color" setting in OpenMW, the responses to topics which the player has not seen become highlighted. When such dialog is clicked, it becomes greyed out meaning the player has seen the response by an NPC. However, there are many vanilla replies to the "background" topic which always remain highlighted. Moreover, those replies can never be saved in the journal.
That inconsistency is fixed by this mod by removing the ClearInfoActor flag which is associated with those topics.
A simple UI mod for OpenMW that greys out the dialog highlighted by an optional setting. With 651 endorsements and 85,731 downloads, it's a popular quality-of-life tweak for players who want a less visually distracting dialogue interface. Last updated in August 2021.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 651 endorsements and over 85k downloads.
- Lightweight and simple—does exactly what it says without bloat.
- Works with OpenMW's optional setting, so it's flexible for different setups.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2021—may not be compatible with newer OpenMW versions.
- Only affects the highlighted dialog, so it's a niche cosmetic tweak.
For OpenMW players who find the highlighted dialog too bright or distracting and want a subtler look. Skip if you're on vanilla Morrowind or want more comprehensive UI overhauls.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you're using OpenMW, not the original Morrowind engine, as this mod relies on an OpenMW-specific setting.
- Check your OpenMW version against the mod's last update (2021) to ensure compatibility.
- If you're unsure how to enable the optional setting, look up OpenMW's dialogue highlight configuration in the official docs.
