Better Torches

What it does

• []Mainly changes the glow around the torch to blend more naturally with the environment and be less intrusive / immersion-breaking and also reduce the pop-in effect when moving further away from a torch by disabling one of the 2 "glow" particles and changing several parameters on the other glow particle.

  []Increase the draw distance on some particles of the torch so that the visibility is increased a lot.

  Alternative version

  • []BetterTorches_NoGlow - Completely removes the glow from torches, but keeps the draw distance increase on torches.

    []BetterTorches_SmallGlow - This is the reworked version of Torch glow begone, making that mod obsolete and it will be removed.

    Optional file

    • []BetterTorches_IncreasedDrawLights - Massively increase the draw distance of lights (expect a performance impact, enthusiast only!)

      Can be used in combination with any mod, only a CVAR change

    Installation

    Extract the contents of the .zip file to your ../Mods folder.

    Uninstallation

    Delete the folder zzBetterTorches from your ../Mods folder.

    Compatibility

    • []NOT compatible with my other mod Torch glow begone. The glow effect from this mod will not appear when Torch glow begone is installed. Torch glow begone keeps a small glow around the torchfire. If you want it completely removed, download the BetterTorches_NoGlow.

      []Compatible with any other mod except ones that change fires.torch_trailer in WH_Particels.xml (yes the typo is warhorse's, not mine)

      []for those wondering, I made sure it is compatible with Brighter Torch and Extended Brighter Torches as it modifies different files.

    • It is also compatible with ParticlesPlus, again given that it is loaded before this mod (so bettertorches last). Any changes done by ParticlesPlus to any of the particles in WH_Particels.xml will not be implemented and overridden by this mod. (hoping Warhorse updates the particle system to allow for PTF)
