Smithing Plus

Description

SmithingPlus makes forged weapons feel more rewarding by giving them a 20% damage bonus.

In Gothic 2, learning smithing felt meaningful because crafted weapons were often strong for the point in the game where you could make them. Investing in blacksmithing gave you a real reason to use the skill, and it made forging feel like part of your character progression.

This mod tries to bring some of that feeling into Gothic 1 Remake. When you forge a weapon, that weapon type becomes stronger for the current game session.

There is one important limitation: Gothic 1 Remake appears to treat forged weapons and found weapons as the same final item. Because of that, the mod cannot safely tell the difference between a weapon you forged and the same weapon found in the world. However, it only applies the buf ONCE you forge that particular weapon. 

For example, if you forge a Stonecrusher, all Stonecrushers will use the improved damage, including ones found as loot or in the world.

This is not a perfect solution, but it is currently the simplest stable approach. It avoids unstable inventory tracking methods that could cause crashes, while still making smithing feel more worthwhile.

Installation instructions

1. Make sure UE4SS is installed for Gothic 1 Remake.

2. Download SmithingPlus.

3. Extract the mod folder into your UE4SS Mods folder.

4. Make sure the mod is enabled in the UE4SS mods file if required by your setup.

5. Launch the game and forge a weapon.
