📋 About This Mod

Introduces Random Encounters that can occur out in the wilds! NEW: CHAOS MODE BETA

Description

G1R Random Encounters adds dynamic enemy encounters to Gothic 1 Remake, making travelling through the Colony less predictable without replacing the game's existing creature population. Instead of always knowing exactly where enemies will be waiting, the mod periodically rolls for additional encounters and spawns randomized groups around the player. Regular encounters are influenced by the current region, rarity, chapter progression, cooldowns and configurable encounter rules. Encounters range from small wildlife groups to mixed creature packs, Orcs, undead and rare high-level enemies. Groups use terrain-aware placement, managed spawning and population tracking to integrate encounters into the existing world. Optional Gothic 3-style encounter music accompanies active encounters.

Two Editions Available

Random Encounters + Chaos Mode

The complete version of the mod, including regular Random Encounters and the experimental Chaos Mode.

Requires G1R Modding API.

Random Encounters Standalone

A self-contained version containing the complete regular Random Encounters system and encounter audio.

It does not contain Chaos Mode and does not require G1R Modding API.

Only install one edition.

Chaos Mode - Beta

Chaos Mode is an optional alternative game mode designed for existing/end-game characters.

Enable Chaos Mode in

config.iniand press NUM0 in-game to activate it.

Unlike regular Random Encounters, Chaos Mode removes the normal region and progression restrictions and can throw increasingly unpredictable encounters at the player wherever they happen to be. It includes its own large catalogue of named encounters and mixed enemy groups, multiple-encounter rolls, escalating gameplay effects and dedicated Chaos systems.

Chaos Mode is intentionally NOT progression-friendly. It can spawn enemies completely inappropriate for your current chapter or location and may interfere with normal vanilla progression. Use an appropriate save or end-game character.
