📋 About This Mod
Dexterity One-Handed Weapons
Lets a Dexterity build (bow / light-weapon playstyle) actually use a melee weapon. It makes one-handed weapons require and scale with Dexterity instead of Strength, so you can carry a sidearm without dumping learning points into Strength. By default this covers all one-handed swords; one-handed axes and maces are included too but left off, so you can build your own split. Two-handed weapons and bows are untouched.
This is the companion / mirror to Strength Crossbows — together they let you commit to a pure Strength or pure Dexterity build and still have a viable secondary weapon:
-
[]Dexterity / bow build → bow + a one-handed melee weapon (this mod).[/]
[]Strength / 2H warrior → two-hander + a crossbow (the Strength Crossbows mod).[/]
What it changes (enabled weapons only):
-
[]Equip requirement: Strength → Dexterity (shown in the item tooltip), keeping each weapon's original requirement value.[/]
[]Damage: adds Dexterity × Scale on top of the weapon's normal damage — a modest, configurable bonus so the weapon is usable, not overpowered. (For a pure-Dexterity character with little Strength, that's effectively the weapon's whole damage scaling.)[/]
Per-weapon control
Every one-handed weapon has its own on/off flag in the config. Out of the box, all one-handed swords are enabled and all axes/maces are disabled — flip any flag to move a weapon between the Strength and Dexterity lanes however you like.
Updates live
Stats recalculate automatically whenever your attributes change — learning a point at a teacher, drinking a permanent potion, or equipping +Strength/+Dexterity gear. Fully event-driven (no background polling), so there's no stutter.
How it works
A UE4SS Lua mod that edits one-handed weapon item-class defaults at runtime. It does not modify your save and does not touch any .pak files — everything reverts cleanly if you remove the mod.
Configuration (G1R_OneHandWeaponDEX.ini)
-
[]Scale — how much each point of Dexterity adds to a converted weapon's damage (default 0. 2).
[
]Greater than 0: the weapon requires Dexterity and gains +Dexterity×Scale damage. Raise it for a stronger melee sidearm.[/][
]0 — requirement-only mode: the weapon requires Dexterity but its damage is left vanilla. Use this if you only want to be able to equip one-handers on a Dexterity build.[/]
[]<WeaponName>_ENABLED — per-weapon on/off (swords on by default; axes/maces off).[/]
[]Enabled — master on/off (0 = full vanilla).[/]
[]DebugLogging — verbose logs in UE4SS.log.[/]
Requirements
-
[]UE4SS for Gothic Remake.[/]
Installation
-
[]G1L (recommended): drag the .zip onto the G1L window and enable it.[/]
[]Manual: extract the OneHandWeaponDEX folder into …\Gothic 1 Remake\G1R\Binaries\Win64\Mods\.[/]
Notes
-
[]The inventory tooltip shows the weapon's base damage; your wielded stat bonus is applied on top in combat (as with all weapons in the game).[/]
[]Covers the one-handed sword / axe / mace families. If you find a one-hander it doesn't list, leave a comment with its name.[/]
Credits
Built with the UE4SS toolchain; shares its approach with the Strength Crossbows mod.
