You can change any of the keys used, with instructions in the included text file. Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM), found at http://sourceforge.net/projects/fomm/ Fallout Script Extender, found at http://fose.silverlock.org/ You will need to add a line to your hud_main_menu.xml file if prompted during FOMOD activation. This mod will work with any gun-type weapons, even those added by other mods. This mod has the potential to interfere with any mods that disable/enable the attack control. This mod will not work as intended with 360 controllers, as FOSE does not support them yet. Burst mode may not fire in rapid succession if you have choppy frame rates. ✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-trusted with 378 endorsements—a solid track record for a utility mod.
- Adds real tactical depth: switch to single for precision or burst for close-quarters.
- Tiny download size and simple concept—no bloat, just function.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2009—likely incompatible with modern Fallout 3 setups or mods that alter weapons.
- No detailed instructions or compatibility notes provided by the author.
- May conflict with other weapon mods that change fire modes or animations.
For Fallout 3 players who want more realistic weapon handling and tactical fire control. If you're a purist who likes to conserve ammo or role-play as a disciplined shooter, this is a must-have. Skip if you prefer vanilla simplicity or use overhaul mods that already implement fire modes.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since the mod is from 2009, check if your Fallout 3 version is patched to 1.7—older mods often need the latest official patch.
- If you use a mod manager like FOMM, install via that to avoid manual file placement errors.
- Test the fire mode selector on a save before relying on it in combat—some weapon meshes may not show the selector properly.
