📋 About This Mod
To put it simply, the gameplay effect and impact of Great Runes didn't feel that great. This mod aims to improve that by adding passive effects to the Great Runes, providing permanent upgrades that stack with each other, creating some new character progression.
These are intended to be simple but fun upgrades, with a bit of a thematic connection, that won't make your character overpowered even after getting multiple of them.
- []The new effects become active after you've activated the rune in the Divine Tower. The Great Rune then shows up as a status effects icon.
- []Rune of the Unborn from Rennala also has a passive effect (which is active right away) for some added early game progression.
- []The mechanic of activating a Great Rune with a Rune Arc is still in and works like normal, meaning you can only have one active but they stack with all the new passive effects.
-
[]Rykard's, Mohg's and Malenia's Rune Arc effects have also gotten tweaks or additional effects to make them more useful compared to the others.
Godrick's Great Rune
Passive effects:
+1 to Strength, Dexterity, Endurance, Intellect, Faith and Arcane.
+50 to item discovery.
Rune of the Unborn
Passive effects:
Slightly shortens the casting time of spells. (+10 virtual dexterity).
Restores 5% FP upon defeating enemies.
Radahn's Great Rune
Passive effects:
+5 stamina regen.
+5% equip load.
+5% poise damage.
Morgott's Great Rune
Passive effects:
Restores 40% of your total health when you go below 30% health. (Like a Crimson Bubbletear-effect. It works once and resets when resting at a grace.)
When you kill an undead (using a melee or ranged weapon) it's no longer able to revive. (Same effect as for example Order's Blade.)

Great Rune Overhaul makes Great Runes grant permanent minor passive effects once acquired, instead of only when activated with a Rune Arc. This adds a steady progression layer without making the player overpowered. Ideal for Elden Ring players who want lasting rewards from boss runes.
