📋 About This Mod
Respawn at a Grand Riftstone when you die instead of loading a save or using a Wakestone. Optional penalties include Gold and Time loss.
OVERVIEW
Respawn - Death Alternative replaces the vanilla death/retry screen with an automatic respawn at a Grand Riftstone.
Choose the Vernworth or Bakbattahl Grand Riftstones as your respawn point OR automatically select whichever location is nearest to where you died.
HOW IT WORKS
When you "die" for any reason, you will be left immobile and at critically low health (1hp, but invulnerable/unkillable) for a few seconds before being teleported to a Grand Riftstone. Once you arrive, you and your Pawns will be fully healed, and an autosave will be made to prevent save-scumming. Exiting to the Main Menu is also entirely blocked until Respawn's autosave completes. This usually takes about 10 seconds.
This is to ensure save-scumming isn't possible during a Respawn event without literally rage-quitting the game.
You can't just quit out to the main menu and load your last save. Death has real consequences.
There is an optional fully modular Penalty system. With all of the Penalties enabled, dying becomes almost a roguelike.
More detail below, but you can lose Gold, Time and even your Inventory.
This encourages stocking up on supplies using the game's Storage system.
That way, if you die, you have a pool of resources waiting at your home base to resupply with.
Wakestones can still be used if you have one in your inventory!
There's an option to disable them for the player as well!
If you die without a Wakestone, Respawn acts as a full death mechanic replacement.
No menu pop-up asking which save to load from, and you cannot escape to load a save.
If you are in the Unmoored World, this entire system is disabled by default, but it can be enabled there, too!
Dying in UW will operate as normal, allowing you to use a Wakestone or reset the world to Day 1, etc.
GOLD PENALTY
There is an optional Gold penalty for Respawning in the REFramework menu.
Fully customizable cost! It can be set to a flat value OR a percentage based deduction.
If you enable this, the configured amount of Gold will be removed upon waking up at the Grand Riftstone.
The Pawn Guild needs to be paid fo
