📋 About This Mod

We've all been there...

Ahh finally, the patch 2. 11! I can't wait to try CrystalCoat and give all my cars the perfect colors! spends 20min messing around with it Oh yea, this looks absolutely preem, now let's go zero some gonks with it.

Wait, wtf is this glitch when I bump into something... wait wait wait it disappears if I crash too much?? WTF IT DOESN'T EVEN STAY ON IF I GET OUTTA THE CAR??? THIS SHIT IS SO USELESS!

I mean seriously CDPR? You make such a cool feature and then artificially make it suck ass? The whole point why I make a custom paintjob for my car is that I see it everywhere I go. You might've as well not bothered at all if you're gonna make it disappear the moment I bump into something.

Description

This mod makes Crystal Coat as the gonks at CDPR shoul've made it in the first place:

  • []Makes Crystal Coat not disappear when you get out of the car

[]Makes Crystal Coat ignore car damage and deformation

  • Removes the glitch effect when you bump into something

Additionally, there is a version that doesn't remove the glitch effect when you bump into something.

Installation/Uninstallation

Install through Vortex, or manually unzip the mod's contents into your Cyberpunk folder.

To uninstall, just delete the mod in Vortex, or manually delete the file <Cyberpunk 2077>\r6\scripts\xxPersistentCrystalCoat\CrystalCoatUnfucker.reds

Compatibility

This mod should be compatible with 99% of other mods, as it only cuts out specific code, related to the aforementioned annoyances.

However, it absolutely must be loaded last, after all other vehicle mods, otherwise there's risk some other mods might accidentally add parts of the cut out code back and cause really weird behavior. This should happen by default, as redscript mods are loaded in alphabetic order and the name redscript sees for this mod is "xxPersistentCrystalCoat".

Known issues

On certain cars, parts of the custom paint still disappear if you get slightly far away from them. This is due to some LOD shenanigans, that I do not understand nor have the skills to fix. Luckily, most cars are not affected by this.

This is a simple script mod that patches out all the checks and calls which cause the aforementioned annoyances. If anyone knows how to fix the LODs, feel free to reach out and I will attempt to fix this.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Persistent CrystalCoat removes the visual glitch and ensures the CrystalCoat paint job stays active regardless of distance or vehicle damage. A quality-of-life fix for Cyberpunk 2077 players who want their ride to look pristine at all times.

✨ Key Features

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure you have the base game's CrystalCoat feature unlocked—this mod only enhances that existing system.
  • If you use other vehicle mods, install this one last to avoid conflicts with paint-related tweaks.
  • Check the mod page for any updates after major game patches, since CDPR often changes vehicle rendering.
