📋 About This Mod
Realistic rain, designed to be noticeable but not in your face. Have you ever stepped outside at night to see the rain (not to touch grass) and noticed that, in the blackness of night, rain is actually very hard to see? That's how I like it. I like the sound of heavy rain and the wetness of the puddles on the ground... but, damn it, I want my drops to stay subtle. This rain also reacts to wind, unlike Preem Rain, and has been designed to work with Nova City stormy weather.
Note:
The rain effect is more apparent than the images may suggest (yay compression!). Also, sorry to Ak3nax for the timing of this one! 😅
For users that want more visible rain particles, I would check out Clear Rain!
NEW:
New optional download! Improved ripples.
Installation:
Use Vortex (recommended) or manually install by just dragging and dropping the contents of the zip to the Cyberpunk 2077 root folder.

This mod is not compatible with other rain mods. Compatible with weather and lighting (ENV) mods as long as they don't edit the rain textures or particles.
Nova Rain (and Improved Ripples) is a visual overhaul for rain effects, offering subtle, realistic precipitation that respects lighting conditions. It removes intrusive particles and prevents unnatural shine in shadows, making it ideal for players seeking immersive weather without over-the-top effects. With 3,897 endorsements and 766,869 downloads, it's a popular choice for enhancing environmental realism.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust: 766k downloads and nearly 4k endorsements show this mod is a go-to for rain overhauls.
- Focuses on subtlety and realism—perfect for players who want immersive weather without screen-cluttering effects.
- Light-aware rain means no more weird glowing drops in dark areas; it just looks right.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in March 2024—might not be compatible with the latest game patches, so check before installing.
- Purely cosmetic—if you're after gameplay changes, this won't add anything beyond visuals.
For players who value atmospheric realism and want rain that feels natural, not like a particle storm. If you're tired of rain that looks like glowing needles at night, this is your fix. Skip if you want gameplay-altering weather effects—this is strictly visual.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this is a visual mod, make sure your game is updated to a version close to the mod's last update (March 2024) to avoid conflicts.
- If you use other weather or lighting mods, test Nova Rain in a few different conditions (day, night, rain) to ensure it blends well.
- Check the mod's comments section on the Nexus for any user-reported compatibility issues with specific game versions.
