📋 About This Mod

Made for game v2. 31. Tested with PL, but should work without.

TL;DR

This mod introduces an optional immersive mode for throwing weapons: item gets unequipped and dropped at the impact location.

There is a global setting in the menu for which mode to use by default AND a keybind to switch the mode for the currently held weapon.

Why?

You may or may not know/remember how throwing weapons used to work originally. You may or may not have hated that system.

Then cooldown throws replaced it in 2. 0 overhaul.

I have three issues with the new approach:

  • []It is not very immersive.[/]

[]Having a weapon slot occupied by a "lunch break" sign is not very fun.[/]

[]My playstyle relies on picking up enemy weapons, so I do not care if I lose a random knife I found.[/]

But I will admit that cooldowns are pretty handy for not losing your favorite weapon.

So, as a compromise, I inserted a small wedge into the new system, that gives player control over the behavior of EACH throw.

    Safety net

Weapons marked as Quest items are considered vanilla-locked and will NEVER throw immersively. You can use Toggle Quest Tags by DJ_Kovrik to set quest flag on your items.

Optionally, the same protection can be blanket given to all iconic weapons. This is enabled by default.

    Immersive throw

Unlike vanilla throws, upon impact, immersive throw will wait for an adjustable amount of time to let other mechanics play out.

For example, if the window is too narrow, Boomerang weapon mod may not have time to reset the cooldown before immersive throw drops the item.

Then there is also proximity pickup, which lets you get the weapon back by approaching the glowing projectile. This can be handy if you are throwing at close range.

    There are probably others.

Set the window size to match how performant your system is and your own preference. Ideally, you want it to be as small as possible, while still large enough for these mechanics to trigger.

Once this period is out, the item will be spawned at the location of the projectile, which will cause it to:

    • []unequip itself[/]

      []disappear from your inventory[/]

      []unstick from the target[/]

      []fall down under gravity[/]

      Throw mode selection

The throw mode is selected on a per-throw basis.

Quest items (and optionally iconics) will be thrown vanilla style.

Then your selected game-wide mode is considered.

Finally, you can use a keybind (

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Immersive Throwables changes thrown weapon behavior so they drop at the impact point instead of returning to cooldown. This adds a risk-reward element for players who want more realism. A niche gameplay tweak with 48 endorsements and recent updates.

✨ Key Features

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Adds a fresh layer of strategy—do you risk losing your weapon for a tactical throw?
  • Tiny mod, easy to understand, and recently updated (October 2025).
  • Small but dedicated following (48 endorsements) suggests it works as intended.

⚠️ Cons

  • Only 48 endorsements—this is a niche mod that hasn't caught on widely.
  • If you're used to the standard cooldown system, this might feel punishing—your weapon is gone until you pick it up.
🎯 Is This For You?
For players who want more realism and risk in combat, especially those who enjoy tactical decision-making. Skip if you prefer the convenience of cooldown-based throwables.
