WHAT IT DOES

Vehicle Driving makes driving snappier and smoother. Every effect has its own setting in the mod menu:

• []Max speed — the vehicle's top speed, Hover Drive bonus included. If you switch to another Hover Drive, the mod follows its new bonus.[/]

  []Acceleration — the vehicle picks up speed faster, including when pulling out of a turn.[/]

  []Turn speed — the vehicle turns faster toward where you are looking.[/]

  []Jump height — the vehicle jumps higher.[/]

  []Grip — the vehicle goes where it faces instead of sliding on through turns. It loses a little speed in big turns, the way real cornering does, instead of skidding out.[/]

  []Speed lost in a 90 degree turn — the share of speed the grip lets go in a tight turn. The game's own braking adds to it: at full throttle, a big turn loses a little more than the setting.[/]

WHAT IS ON AFTER INSTALLING

Everything, with these starting values:

• []Max speed: 125 % (100 to 300 %)[/]

  []Acceleration: 250 % (100 to 500 %)[/]

  []Turn speed: 250 % (100 to 500 %)[/]

  []Jump height: 200 % (100 to 400 %)[/]

  []Grip: on[/]

  []Speed lost in a 90 degree turn: 9 % (0 to 30 %)[/]

At 100 %, a setting gives back the game's own value, so you can turn each effect off on its own. The grip has its own switch.

The mod turns itself on the first time you launch the game after installing it.

Open the console with ~, type mods, pick Vehicle Driving. Every setting says what it does. The settings you change are kept the next time you launch the game.

If you type a number above the maximum, 500 for Max speed for instance, the mod brings it back to the maximum, 300 here, and says so right below it in the console.

The mod only touches the vehicle while you drive it. When you get out, or when you turn the mod off, the vehicle gets the game's own values back.

WITH APEX MOVEMENT      

Apex 

Vehicle Driving installs beside Apex Movement without any conflict: the two mods share no setting, and Vehicle Driving uses no key.

REQUIREMENTS

The Borderlands 4 Python SDK (oak2-mod-manager). The mod will not load without it:

INSTALLATION

• []Install the Borderlands 4 Python SDK (link above), if you do not have it yet.[/]

  []Open the downloaded archive and copy vehicle_driving.sdkmod into ...\Borderlands 4\sdk_mods\[/]

  []Launch the game. The mod is on.[/]

  []To change anything: console ~, command mods, Vehicle Driving.[/]

To uninstall: delete vehicle_driving.sdkmod from the sdk_mods folder. Nothing else to undo.

WATCH OUT AT VERY HIGH SPEEDS

Above about 250 % Max speed, the game may not load the world fast enough on some PCs: textures can stay blurry for a moment, and objects can appear late. It depends mostly on your graphics card's memory and on your in-game graphics settings. If it happens to you, lower Max speed.

WHAT HAS BEEN TESTED, AND WHAT HAS NOT

• []Built and tested on game version 1. 8. 1-4709277. I have not tried it on a newer one: after a Borderlands 4 update it may stop working.[/]

  []Tested with three different vehicles. Other vehicles have their own settings and may react a little differently.[/]

  []Tested with a controller.[/]

  []Tested in single player only. Never tried in co-op.[/]

If you run into a bug, report it in the Bugs tab or in the comments, saying what you were doing, with which vehicle and where: that is what will let me fix it.

Do not use it together with another vehicle mod that changes the same values, such as Better Vehicle Jump or Vehicle Movement: whichever writes last wins, and the result is unpredictable.

YOUR SAVE IS NOT TOUCHED

The mod only changes values in memory while you drive, and puts the game's own values back as soon as you get out or turn it off. Nothing is written to your save file.
