Omni sprint

WHAT IT DOES

In Borderlands 4, sprint only works forward: as soon as your stick moves more than 60 degrees away from where you are looking, the sprint stops. Omni Sprint lifts that limit. The sprint starts and holds in every direction, sideways, diagonally and backwards, while your camera stays free.

• []It is the game's own sprint: same speed, same animations, same sprint jump. The mod changes no speed at all.[/]

  []No key, no setting: once installed, you sprint as usual.[/]

  []Turned off in the mod menu, the sprint goes back to the game's own right away.[/]

  The mod turns itself on the first time you launch the game after installing it.

  Omni Sprint installs beside Apex Movement without any conflict, and the two go well together:

    []Apex's slide follows your momentum: it goes sideways or backwards.[/]

    Without Apex Movement, the game's own slide always launches toward the camera, even out of a backward sprint: that is how the game behaves, not the mod.

    Omni Sprint also installs beside Vehicle Driving, with no setting in common.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The Borderlands 4 Python SDK (oak2-mod-manager). The mod will not load without it:

    INSTALLATION

    • []Install the Borderlands 4 Python SDK (link above), if you do not have it yet.[/]

      []Open the downloaded archive and copy omni_sprint.sdkmod into ...\Borderlands 4\sdk_mods\[/]

      []Launch the game. The mod is on.[/]

      []To turn it off or back on: console ~, command mods, Omni Sprint.[/]

      To uninstall: delete omni_sprint.sdkmod from the sdk_mods folder. Nothing else to undo.

      HOW IT WORKS

      The 60 degree limit is kept in your character's movement sheet, which the SDK's tools cannot reach. So the mod finds it in the game's memory, starting from your character, and changes that one value: 60 becomes 180.

      It only writes it once it has recognised the sheet for certain, from 20 other game values that must all be in place. If a Borderlands 4 update changes those values, the mod no longer finds the sheet, writes nothing, and says so once in the SDK log: your game stays as it is, just without sprinting in every direction.

      YOUR SAVE IS NOT TOUCHED

      The limit is only changed in memory, while the game runs. At every launch the game starts from its own value again, and the mod opens it again. Nothing is written to your save file or to the game's files.

      WHAT HAS BEEN TESTED, AND WHAT HAS NOT

      • []Created and tested on game versions 1. 8. 1-4709277 through 1. 10. 2-4845623. I have not tested it on older versions, it may not work on versions prior to 1. 8. 1-4709277. After a future Borderlands 4 update it may also stop working (in that case it simply does nothing, see above).[/]

        []Tested with two characters, Vex and Harlowe. The other two have the same kind of sheet, but I have not tried them.[/]

        []Tested with a controller and with a keyboard.[/]

        []Tested in single player only. Never tried in co-op.[/]

        If you run into a bug, report it in the Bugs tab or in the comments, saying what you were doing and with which character: that is what will let me fix it.
