1. 1. 0 THE FEUDAL POLITICS UPDATE

The next major Bellum Civile update expands the mod through three large, interconnected systems:

FEUDAL TITLES AND HIERARCHY

Every landed realm now has a legal hierarchy of Baronies, Counties, Duchies, Kingdoms, and Empires. Titles distinguish between who lawfully owns them and who actually controls them, creating long-term disputes that conquest alone does not erase.

CLAIMS AND PETTY FEUDS

Lords can inherit, fabricate, press, surrender, or fight over claims. Internal land disputes can begin as political pressure, grow into a bitter feud between houses, reach the ruler's court for judgment, and finally erupt into a contained private war.

WAR ENTHUSIASM, WAR SCORE, AND PEACE PARLEYS

When the optional War and Peace Logic Revamp is enabled, clans develop their own appetite for war, kingdoms choose targets for actual strategic reasons, conflicts generate War Score, and peace is settled through a full treaty negotiation instead of an unexplained tribute calculation.

These systems do not sit apart from the rest of Bellum Civile. Titles affect relations, elections, taxation, army calls, succession, treason, rebellion, foreign policy, and peace settlements. A disputed castle can poison relations between two houses, become the cause of a feud, draw their allies into a private war, and later become a demand in a foreign peace treaty.

CURRENT TARGET, REQUIREMENTS, AND WARNING

Current target: Bannerlord 1. 4+

Required mods:

- UIExtenderEx

- Mod Configuration Menu

War Sails / Naval DLC support is bundled with Bellum Civile and automatically activates only when the DLC is detected. The base mod does not require War Sails.

BEWARE:

Bellum Civile is still a work in progress and I am an amateur coder. Please back up important saves. The mod writes substantial political data into the save file, and removing it after saving a campaign can make that save unusable.

This update adds a large persistent title, claim, feud, and diplomacy simulation. A new campaign is strongly recommended so the complete de jure hierarchy can initialize cleanly and every system can begin from its intended starting state.

Expect bugs. If you find one, please report it with as much information as possible. Crash reports, Bellum logs, and a description of what was happening before the problem are especially useful, and I will do my best to fix it.

Bellum Civile creates a living political ecosystem where lords have personalities, legal rights, family loyalties, political agendas, personal rivalries, and memories. A kingdom is no longer a single unified block. It is a fragile hierarchy of rulers and vassals held together by law, influence, friendship, fear, and the constant possibility that somebody decides they deserve more.

The mod is heavily inspired by the Crusader Kings series, the excellent CK2Plus mod, and political features from Warband, all reinterpreted to the best of my abilities to work within Bannerlord rather than trying to turn it into a different game.

THE POLITICAL SYSTEM

Bellum Civile now connects four broad layers of politics:

COURT FACTIONS

Permanent political parties debate laws, influence votes, shape the mood of the realm, and organize grand coalitions when the crown loses control.

FEUDAL HIERARCHY

Titles define who owes service to whom, which lands belong under which lord, who has authority to summon a vassal, and where taxes and influence should flow.

CLAIMS AND FEUDS

Personal disputes over land can be fabricated, inherited, judged at court, settled legally, or pressed through private war without automatically becoming a rebellion against the crown.

REBELLION AND FOREIGN WAR

When politics truly collapse, lords can seek independence, force an abdication, install a claimant, or fight foreign realms through Bellum's War Enthusiasm, War Score, and treaty systems.

MAIN FEATURES

FEUDAL TITLES, CLAIMS, AND HIERARCHY

Every castle and town is represented by a Barony title. Those Baronies can belong beneath Counties, Counties beneath Duchies, and Duchies beneath Kingdom or Empire titles. Higher titles can be defined through XML at the start of a campaign or formed organically when a clan controls the necessary neighboring l

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Bellum Civile overhauls Bannerlord's kingdom politics, making lords more ambitious and prone to internal conflict. It adds depth to relationships, grudges, and power struggles, aiming to create a more dynamic and unpredictable realm. Ideal for players seeking political intrigue and less static faction behavior.

✨ Key Features

Overhauls kingdom politics to be less static and more dynamic.
Lords are no longer blindly obedient to the king.
Introduces private ambitions and grudges that can threaten the realm.
Voting on fiefs is no longer based solely on simple economic calculations.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Makes politics actually interesting—lords feel like real schemers, not yes-men.
  • Adds long-term grudges and ambition, so the realm feels alive and unpredictable.
  • With 306 endorsements and 28k downloads, it's clearly got a solid following.

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in August 2026—might be behind the latest game patch, so check your version.
  • Overhauling politics could clash with other mods that touch faction AI or diplomacy.
  • If you prefer stable, predictable kingdoms, this might frustrate you with constant infighting.
🎯 Is This For You?
If you're tired of lords acting like loyal robots and want a realm where betrayal and ambition are real threats, this is for you. Also great for role-players who enjoy political intrigue and emergent stories. Casual players who just want to fight battles might find the political chaos distracting.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Watch your relationship with ambitious lords—they might turn on you if you ignore their requests.
  • Use the new political dynamics to your advantage by backing lords with similar goals.
  • Keep an eye on fief voting—economic power isn't the only factor anymore, so alliances matter more.
