Bifröst

Turn Ivy Arches into portals and walk between them. Open a portal on an arch, pick where it leads, and step through — your settlement, your outpost and your mine are one step apart instead of one long walk.

What it does

• []Any Ivy Arch can become a portal. Build one wherever you would build one normally. No new structure to unlock and no change to how arches are built.

  []Opening costs 5 Jotun Blood. Walking through is free, however far the trip is and however often you make it.

  []Every portal leads where you choose. Pick the destination from a pulldown listing your other portals.

  []Name your portal. Open the arch's structure menu and rename it anything you want. Or let the mod name it Portal # for you.

  []Your portals are saved with the world and come back when you load it.

  Installation

  We highly recommend Vortex. Install ASKA Mods with Vortex

  Then you can just click Mod Manager Download and be done.

  If you install mods by hand, you clearly don't need instructions. ;-)

  Usage

  Aim at a built Ivy Arch. Beside the arch's own T prompt you now see E Open Portal.

  • []Open a portal. Press E and confirm. Five Jotun Blood come out of your inventory and the arch becomes a portal.

    []Choose where it leads. The moment you have two portals, the Select Destination window opens on its own so the new portal is usable straight away. After that, aim at any portal and its prompt reads E Change Destination. Pick from the pulldown and confirm; cancel and Escape change nothing.

    []Travel. Walk through the arch. You arrive in front of the portal you chose, at no cost.

    []Rename a portal through the arch's own T dialog. The pulldown follows the new name.

    []A single portal with no second arch yet sends you out through its own opening, so you can see travel work before you have built the pair.

    []Dismantle a portal's arch and that portal is gone. Any portal that pointed at it asks you to choose again.

    Configuration

    Settings live in BepInEx\config\mugsy33.bifrost.cfg (created on first run), under the section. Edit it with the game closed.

    • []PortalCost — what opening a portal costs, written as <item name>:<count> (default: Jotun Blood:5). Set the count to 0 to make portals free. Name the item exactly as the game shows it; a name the game does not recognise refuses to open a portal rather than making one free.

      []RuneRainbow — cycle the rune effect through the rainbow (default: true).

      []RuneColor — colour of the rune effect when RuneRainbow is off (default: #33FF66 green). A hex value, or a name such as cyan.

      Known issues

      • Single-player only so far. Bifröst is built and tested in single-player. Multiplayer has not been tested.

        Requirements

        BepInEx (IL2CPP build) — install it into the game folder first. Follow the official BepInEx installation guide: docs.bepinex.dev — Installation (use the bleeding-edge IL2CPP build for ASKA).
