Scout
Updating from an earlier version
This version renames the mod folder. Delete BepInEx/plugins/AskaScout before you install. If you leave it in place, the game can load the old copy instead of the new one. Vortex removes the old files for you. Your settings are safe either way, because the config file name has not changed.
Description
Tired of tripping over a cemetery before the game admits you've "discovered" it? Scout sets more reasonable defaults for how far away you spot points of interest — draugr fields, wolf dens, fishing grounds, shipwrecks, islands, caves, and more. You can set your own unreasonable distances in the config.
Requirements
-
[]BepInEx (IL2CPP build) — install it into the game folder first. Follow the official BepInEx installation guide: docs.bepinex.dev — Installation (use the IL2CPP build for this game).[/]
Installation
With Vortex: click Mod Manager Download and enable the mod in Vortex. BepInEx is still required (see Requirements).
Manual install:
-
[]Install BepInEx first (see Requirements).[/]
[]Extract this archive into your Aska game folder — the one containing
Aska.exe— so the plugin lands at
BepInEx\plugins\AskaScout\AskaScout.dll.[/]
[]Launch the game.[/]
Usage
Fully automatic — just explore. Areas reveal as you approach, at the new distances, with the game's normal "area discovered" notification.
Caves stream in with the world as you travel, so a large multiplier won't reveal caves that haven't loaded near you yet.
Configuration
Settings live in
BepInEx\config\smithio.aska.scout.cfg(created on first run). Edit it with the game closed.
-
[]Enabled — master on/off switch (default: true).[/]
[]GlobalMultiplier — applied on top of every category multiplier; 2. 0 = twice as far for everything (default: 1. 0).[/]
[]ScanIntervalSeconds — how often distances are checked; lower = more responsive (default: 2. 0).[/]
[]ShowDiscoveryNotifications — show the game's normal "area discovered" feedback when this mod reveals an area (default: true).[/]
— each value multiplies the vanilla discovery radius of every area in that category. 1. 0 = vanilla; higher = spotted from farther away. Effective distance = vanilla radius × category × GlobalMultiplier.
-
[]Threats — hostile camps, settlements and strongholds, wolf dens, cemeteries, draugr, spires, bears, and field bosses (default: 2. 0).[/]
[]Resources — fishing grounds and loot nests (default: 2. 5).[/]
[]Landmarks — shipwrecks, exploration towers, lakes (default: 2. 0).[/]
[]Islands — islands of every size (default: 2. 0).[/]
[]Caves — cave entrances. Caves have no vanilla discovery radius, so this scales a fixed ~60m base (the 2. 5 default ≈ 150m) (default: 2. 5).[/]
[]UnmappedFallback — anything not covered by the categories above (default: 1. 0).[/]
-
[]Threats — hostile camps, settlements and strongholds, wolf dens, cemeteries, draugr, spires, bears, and field bosses (default: 2. 0).[/]
-
[]Enabled — master on/off switch (default: true).[/]
-
[]Install BepInEx first (see Requirements).[/]
