Universal Swords - Remastered

Use your steel or silver sword against any enemy, and hide the weapons you don't want to see on Geralt's back.

In the base game, the steel sword only hurts humans and beasts, and the silver sword is the one for monsters. With this mod you can keep using your favourite sword (Aerondight, a relic steel sword, a modded one...) in every fight. All options are in Options > Mods > Universal Swords.

Universal Sword

• []Both swords (default): the steel sword is as effective against monsters, and the silver sword against humans.[/]

  []Steel sword: only the steel sword works against any enemy.[/]

  []Silver sword: only the silver sword works against any enemy.[/]

  []Off: vanilla behaviour.[/]

Damage Against The Other Bar (new in 1. 1)

• []Matching sword (default): the steel sword hits monsters as hard as your equipped silver sword would, and the silver sword hits humans like your steel sword. If the other sword isn't equipped, the sword uses its own damage.[/]

  []Own damage of the sword: the sword keeps its own damage, like in 1. 0. Steel swords have much lower numbers than silver ones, so they feel weak against monsters.[/]

Oils, runes, skills and enemy resistances still apply as usual.

Steel Against Specters, Vampires And Cursed (new in 1. 4)

For a more lore-friendly game, where the silver sword is still needed for the monsters that really call for it:

• []Full damage (default): the steel sword hits every monster.[/]

  []Half damage: the steel sword does half damage to specters, vampires and cursed ones (werewolves...).[/]

  []No damage (silver needed): the steel sword does nothing to them, like in the base game.[/]

Other monsters (drowners, ghouls, nekkers...) are hit normally. This option is new and not fully tested in game yet, let me know if something doesn't work as described.

Sword To Draw

• []Normal (default): vanilla, steel for humans and silver for monsters.[/]

  []Always steel / Always silver: the sword Geralt draws on his own when a fight starts or when he switches targets.[/]

Hide Steel Sword / Hide Silver Sword / Hide Crossbow

Off by default. The weapon stays equipped with all its stats, but it only shows up while Geralt holds it (sword drawn, crossbow aimed). Its scabbard is never shown, even when the sword is drawn. The bolt loaded on the crossbow is hidden too.

Hide Only When Wearing A Cloak (new in 1. 2)

Off by default. When it's on, the three hide options above only apply while Geralt wears a cloak or cape (for example the KM Cloak, Mage Cloak or capes from the Hoods mod). A hood alone doesn't count.

Example: tick Hide Steel Sword, Hide Silver Sword and Hide Only When Wearing A Cloak. Without a cloak, both swords stay on Geralt's back as usual. Put on a cloak and they disappear, so they don't stick out through it. Take the cloak off and they come back.

Goes well together: for example, make the steel sword universal, set Sword To Draw to Always steel and hide the silver sword.

Optional file: Hide Weapons Only

If you only want to hide your weapons and nothing else, download the optional file instead of the main one. It only has the three hide options (steel sword, silver sword, crossbow) in Options > Mods > Hide Weapons, and doesn't change damage or which sword Geralt draws. Don't install both.

Notes

• []Other mods that hide weapons (like Simply Hide Weapons or Auto Hide Weapons for Cloaks) may fight with the hide options here, use one or the other.[/]

Installation

Extract the archive into your game folder (the bin and mods folders go next to content).

Script-only mod, compatible with most other mods. Made for the Remastered version (5. 00).
